Hi from the rainy coast of Maine. Merme
![[Linked Image]](//www.agardenersforum.com/images/graphics/buttons/merme.gif) ![[Linked Image]](//www.agardenersforum.com/images/graphics/buttons/gardenhelper.jpg) We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. Hi Merme from hot Colorado- it's 77* right now and I am mopping my kitchen floor in a minute- we were invaded by big black ants this morning coming thru the slider,,, so I just moved the hutch and pantry cabinet- swept the floor.. got the rugs in the laundry and washer and on the line to dry... I just picked up Timba too cause he had a half day today and no school for them tomorrow at all- Joseph has to go though...
Nana gotta go mop

Hi Nana ~ We got ants through our sliders this spring also. First time, ever. I hope you can get rid of yours easily. It would be nice if the weather holds good for you tomorrow when the kids are off school. I am waiting to hear from Maxi later this evening. He & his dad took the city bus into town & although the bus will drop them sorta near where they need to be, Edward isn't certain of how to get where they are going. Walking is very difficult and painful for him any more, so I hope he takes his time and finds his way without having to backtrack. I told him NOT to send Maxi off on his own in the direction of the Cathedral, but to make sure he actually got there... he swore he would escort the kid safely to the door. I had to laugh, though, because once, years ago Edward and I were out dancing one night in Cincinnati. I got alittle intoxicated (!) okay, maybe a LOT intoxicated, and I told him I wanted to go home and could easily find my own way. Not the least bit true, of course. I wandered around downtown Cinti for about for ever, then climbed up on a high wall to take a nap. One of Edward's friends found me up there and asked what I was doing? I said I couldn't find my way home and so he took me. That taught Edward not to trust very young or very imbibed people with finding their own way! I just remember walking about a million miles in my spike heeled white lace granny boots. It wouldda been lots better if Dude had carted me. Merme

Hi everyone! Funny story Merme, I've had nights of having trouble finding my way home. Found it eventually but didn't remember actually getting there. The sun is coming out now, the winds have let up, and it's supposed to be pretty nice tomorrow. Only in the 60's but sunny so that's good. I get my allergy shots and I go to the doctor for my back tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. This will be the first time I'm actually meeting my new doctor and I'm all nervous about it. I liked my old doctor, but she left so we'll see how this new one is. I'm home early from work today, I'm laying on my stomach in bed right now until it's time to go get dinner. We're having subway tonight.

Hi Cheryl ~ I'm glad you see your doc tomorrow. I hope it really helps! Subway sounds good for dinner. I don't particularly like Subway as a brand but I do like that style of sandwich sometimes.
Your weather is sounding a bit like ours but yours might be improving faster. Our rain is supposed to linger days and days yet.
Keep resting!

I can not believe this. I got a call this afternoon from a lady at my eye doctor who said she had been able to speak with the doctor between surgeries and he said that my prescription is correct and I just need to wear them night and day for 2 weeks until "they work for me." I said but they make me sick to which she replied I told him that and he said well she needs to wear them night and day for 2 weeks anyway.
I'm going to his office tomorrow and demand a refund. They're going to have to call the police to have me removed if they don't give me my money back. At this point I don't want a re-check, an adjustment or even to talk to him. I want a refund.

Oh man Sheri, I'd be so mad, I've never had an eye doc say something that to me and I've been wearing glasses for 22 years! Hope you put him in his place.

I can't eat the subway sandwiches Merme, but that's okay, I made a turkey casserole last night for myself.

I can't believe that eye doc office either- I have been wearing glasses since I was 6... almost 53 yrs and bifocals since I was 40... never had to "get used" to a prescription... I would report him to the medical assoc too... it could be just his office people too.... a doc I had once told me to come in for a recheck on something and he wouldn't charge me --- was a 3 min thing- his office mgr who was his wife billed me 50 dollars I called him and he told me to forget it and he would talk to her about it--- docs don't always know what their office people tell people . Cheryl I am rooting for you and your quitting smoking... you'r doing great... we like Subway sometimes for dinner too... tonight we are having chili dogs and fries... Merme sure hope Maxi gets home safe and sound- and has a good time the meeting too... Nana

I'm still waiting to hear from Maxi.
They may have called when I was on long-distance with my 82 yr old Aunt in NJ. We haven't spoken for a while and had some catching up to do. It was great speaking with her because she's always been my favorite.

Maxi had a great time tonight and he is psyched that the youth leader is also a camp leader at the summer camp for older kids than the one Maxi goes to, so of course Maxi wanted to hear all about the next camp he'll attend later in high school.
He is excited because at the end of May the youth is having a sleep over at the church and they'll be watching movies and having discussions and all. He loves that sort of thing!

I'm so glad Maxi had a good time, and he'll know someone when he gets to the "older" kids camp. Joey goes to camp next year, he's already getting excited for it and it's more than a year away. Silly kid. The girls are at the high school watching their friends' volleyball game. I guess the 7th grade team is in the middle school championships. It's sure is nice at times having kids that are old enough to get themselves places, I don't always have to be the taxi anymore. Thanks for rooting for me Nana, I'm doing really well and am very proud of myself. Still feels weird sometimes but I'm over the worst of it.

I hope the girls had fun at the Volleyball game tonight. I certainly sounds like a good time! And I understand Joey's being enthused about camp a year ahead... I remember Maxi being that way the summer before he went to overnight camp. It is very cold here tonight and I'm chilled through even though I put my fleece hoodie on over my nightgown. So I'm going to make a hot cup of Red rose tea and curl up under a blanket. So this is probably a good time for me to say Safe away home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all. Merme

Happy friday all! Looking nice already. Going to hit the yard hard this weekend. I have to get stuff done. Making me nuts! sheri, go to another eye doctor. Take the glasses with you and get them to examine your eyes and test the glasses. That bunch is nuts! no way should that be right. Glasses are not supposed to be blurry if they are correct. Please go to another doc, they will be able to give you something to go back to the idiot office with. Pathetic! Rrrrr. Is there no such thing as decent service anymore? Got hubby out walking again last night. One mile. I wanted to keep going but his hip.. He has surgery years ago and he is usually fine till he starts walking a lot. He is even working out with me in the mornings. I am a woman obsessed. I have lost 17 lbs in a month. And I am so motivated to get rid of the rest of this fat nothing will stop me! I refuse to let myself go. I used to have a great body, I have been in denial for 4 years. It hit me and the motivation kicked in a few months ago. IT gets easier every day. I have cut out over the past 2 months the bad processed foods, No lunch meats anymore at all, no frozen meals No cheese, that was a biggie. No fast food.. that was easy. No pasta, All I eat is whole grain cereal, veggies, Fruits, Chicken, Tuna, Salmon, And whole grain rice and nuts. And I feel GREAT!!! I was doing it all wrong, forever, I was not really looking at the day to day amounts, and what I was eating. Now I am trying to cut back the coffee down to 3 cups a day, But the clincher is Coffee cream is FATTENING, I love my regular coffee cream. The fat free stuff does something strange to the taste of coffee. But the real stuff is 33 calories a teaspoon. And no one puts even just 2 teaspoons in coffee. Black is gross. So I am just cutting back. Slow but sure. And the clothes are feeling so much better. I have very few clothes, and I wont buy more until I can fit back into a 10. ~Obsessed~ Obsessed I tell you!

Ditchy - that is wonderful!!! I badly need to drop some weight also, and reading your post this morning was so encouraging. I am going grocery shopping this morning and I am going to have to be careful about what I buy. I let the food in the house get pretty low this week, so now we can start fresh with the proper foods. My son wasn't too happy about that - he is used to having dessert right after dinner, but there wasn't anything in the house!
The sun is finally shining today also, after not having been around for many days. That is also just the motivation I need to get serious about losing weight. I know EXACTY how you feel about the clothes - I, too, have little to choose from and do NOT want to buy anything until the weight comes off!
Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I'm going down to the garage to say good morning to Butterscotch and see how he's feeling today, poor baby.

We finally have some sun here as well. It is a pleasant relief!
I need to lose 25 lbs. I'm thinking of talking to my dietician about going on a low carb high protien diet. We'd have to re-calibrate my insulin pump because its current settings are based on the amount of carbs I eat on most days. That's no big deal to do, just a little tedious!
Carbs are my biggest downfall... I love them just about anyway I can get 'em!

KIm, 17 pounds that is great!!! I have lost some but mine is from NOT having an appetite.---I think what you are doing it great---I too need to lose weight--more than what is gone----I told myself back when I lost weight for my Oldest DD's wedding, in 2003, that this was a lifestyle change--but since then I somehow I gained all the weight I lost back plus some---But yes, you have given me the motivation I need to get started again. No exercise yet but I can still begin the food part of it. Continued good luck. and Kim, when you get done with your yard you are welcome to come do mine-----(someone needs to) anything to help a fellow gardener keep on track with their weight loss program after all.

That is a good obsession, Kim. As long as you leave wiggle room for a backward step once in a while and don't beat yourself up over it. Because of my situation here at home I have eaten way more fast food the last few months than ever before in my life. It used to be a reward every couple of months. It had become a necessity between rushing from place to place lately. I will enjoy getting back to my usual relaxed pace and decent food now. There are silver linings when you look for them

no one's been around much today, huh? I have been trying to take a nap this afternoon, but it is SO hard or me during the day. I've been back and forth to the hospital and passed tired a long while back. hubby got bit by a cooperhead yesterday afternoon. it got him pretty good. I believe they are gonna keep him overnight again tonight. I never realized a snake bite could mess you up THAT bad. I figured we'd go to ER, wait around for 4-5 hours to see a doc, get a shot, and go home????

Ouch, Cricket! Any of the rattlers can be deadly and are often even with anti-venom available. And it is painful too. Prayers for your hubby.
It was a long night for me too, last night. So I will be napping here shortly.

hope you have better luck with that nap than I did. I really wanted to get an hour in at least before the kids started showing up from school. too late now.
we were so fortunate there was a neighbor over that immediatly loaded him up to take him to the hospital....(well, to the local fire station where they ambulanced him over to the hospital) he was passing in and out 10 minutes or so after he'd been struck. they seem to think he'll be ok. the main thing they are watching now is the swelling and tissue damage. everything else system wise seems to be ok.

I'm happy that he's going to be okay. That sounds really scary to me, glad we don't have those here, if we did I probably would only be an indoor gardener. You and your hubby are in my thoughts.

I had planned on going back up tonight after the kids got home from school but I'm still debating. the doc really wants him to eat and sleep today. he's resting fine...as well as you can in a hospital. But, the eating is another story! he's week and shaky and when I'm there I can't help myself but to lend a hand. he gets SO boiling mad when I do those things! I see that look in his eyes 'leave me alone, I'll do it by myself or I won't do it all'. I DON"T try and feed him like a baby, but good grief! can't I at least hold the bottom of the cup while you take off the foil on top of the orange juice...? NO, he'd rather spill it all over himself. after two spilled drinks and looks that could kill, I got on out of there. I've known him a long time and I know that look. with me up there I run the risk of him not eating at all.

Oh! Cricket! I'm so sorry your husband got bit!
Yes, I can see why you might not want to go up tonight. Sometimes, if family isn't there, the nursing staff will help and patients often will accept the help from staff they won't accept from family.
Keep us posted and YOU GET SOME REST!
My friend Teresa got bit by a rattler while she was near the end of her pregnancy. Caught her on the foot. It took a while but she and the baby were fine.
Maxi is here and we ordered delivery fish sandwiches.

fish is one thing that I love, but sometimes really crave! hope your sandwiches get there promptly and are delicious. I'm still trying to get my mind around the fact that it is Friday.
I feel so guilty about not being up there, but I know it's the best thing. those nurses and staff come in and he lets them move the bed, give him blankets, change his gown...but I can't even open a salt packet for him!

We LOVE the fish sandwiches sold at our local seafood & pizza shop, Cricket. They are the best we've ever had. But big. I can never eat a whole one, so I get two meals out of mine. I think it is amusing your husband won't let you pamper him. He wants you to always stay in that "wife" role, maybe, and not slide into "mother". Which is pretty neat as some guys really want wife to be mom. I even know guys who fall into the habit of calling their wives "mom" because the kids do. I freak out on that one! I just made some delicious Dunkin Donuts coffee. It is SO good! It is very humid here tonight. I shut the slider because it was chilly but now it is stuffy. Merme

Merme my O my! that is come kind of climate you have going on there, merme. be careful or it will be raining in your kitchen soon. sorry, I'm tired and being goofy. interesting point about him not letting me mother him. him and his mother don't have the best relationship to say the least. I never would have come to that analysis on my own. I guess I don't feel so bent out of shape anymore.

I spent the last couple of hours reading aloud to Maxi from his new book "The Dangerous Book for Boys". He really enjoyed the stories. Now he is off to bed and I am going to call it a day myself.
Safe away home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all.

H'lo all, We just got back from Carrie's- we had Timbas family party tonight- can't believe he is 8 already... he is such a old soul..... but still very much a kid... Carries friend who used to decorate cakes for the store but is now just a cashier went back and decorated a cake just for him... looked like the camo soldiers wear... he was thrilled-
Carrie gave me my Mother's day present too- a big hanging basket of pink cascading petunias... hung it by my front door... then tonight she gave me a necklace with Nana on it, so pretty. Well I am tired so am going to give Mom her pills and head to a warm bath weather is changing tonight... from 85* yesterday to only 66 today and 48* right now- does wonders for my achiness levels... I hope the rains hold off for Timbas party with his school friends... and good thing we bought games they can play inside if it comes to that.... his cake for that party is and army helmet... Nana

Good morning. I have some plans for my day. I will see how many things I can check off of my to-do list. It is to be very warm weather. So I want to get the heavier things out of the way early.

Morning, It is so far a nice day- rained last night though... so it is wet outside- sure hope the sun comes out and dries the grass enough that Timba's party can be outside for Carrie's sake, the army party will be much better outside. I have been slowly spring cleaning .. cupboards and closets... drawers - taking curtains down and washing them too- today will be the family room- want to wash those windows - will have to wait till Joe can help.. I can't reach them... Today will be laundry day I think... after we do breakfast for Mom and a shower too... she is supposed to go to my sis's tomorrow for awhile.. and the doc on Mon for her checkup for the Parkinson's. Well off to get started on my day--- Nana
