I pass these two plants on my way to work everyday and would love to know what they are! I've finally snapped pictures with my cellphone:

This covers a hillside in deep shade. The leaves are variegated and an inch or two long. There are small, white flowers about the size of a quarter.

This is a compact domed plant in a fenceside border:

I'd love to get some input!

Thanks in advance!

The first one is Aeogpodium (aka Goutweed or Bishops weed). It is very invasive so be careful if you plant some.

That second one could be a native primula laurentiana. Can't tell for sure by your picture, though, but it does look to be a primula of some kind.

Thanks to all of you! Yes, I googled primula and it is definately some kind of primrose. Maybe a dward variety as the flowers are low to the ground, not on a tall stalk.

I shall avoid the ground cover - I could not tell for sure if it is snow-on-the-mountain or Bishop's weed... but I will take no chances!
