I've been told not to use the water from my softner to water my garden but the grass where the water is spilling out on is growing great! any info?

softener systems usually use a high sodium content product to soften the water. too much salt isn't good for most plants. some grasses do very well with high salt levels.

where is the water that's spilling out coming from? if it's from a septic system, the salts from the softener will be dissipated some from the other stuff in the septic.
