4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

Could I use olive oil or Diet soda instead of the regular oil?

Thanks for the pix! I can't wait to try it! I bet it would be great with a little pudding (to look wet) and marshmellows on top at Christmas time! Sorry, I think I am thinking out loud again.

generally speaking, when you want to substitue something else for the oil in a cake recipe, you can do it with applesauce. I have done it many times and works fine.

Maxi and I made these for the first time on Saturday night. I didn't have all the exact ingredients, so I substituted some things. I liked mine he said I didn't stir his enough to incorporate the egg properly.
I'm going to stock up on a few things so we can make these again more properly.

I am a chocoholic and am looking forward to trying this recipe out but I went back and looked at the link that angelblossom put up and was glad because it specified Plain not self rising flour. I have to have the exact ingredients to cook something. I am not a figure-it-outer. But I was wondering if perhaps it wouldn't be best to use Cake Flour since it is suppose to be a cake in a cup. ( oh lordy, i can't wait to try this! I am going to be in a heck of a shape if it works. Instant chocolate cake and in a one person size!
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

I am sooooooooo sorry.(not) if I added a addiction to any chocoholics. I know we make them 3 times a week for desert. I just use regular flour in mine, It is more of a huge brownie to me. Be careful adding things. It might not stay IN the coffe cup.
