I just bought an orchid in bloom at Aldi's. The tag on it said I could water it once a week with 3 ice cubes. Has anyone ever heard of that before.

Mom and I have each have one. I've managed to kill mine I think, however mom's is still doing well. She puts the ice cubes on it like the directions say, then that's it. I think the idea of the ice is to allow it to absorb the water slowly... I'm guessing.
Good luck!! Aldi's you say... was it expensive?? Ours were a little pricy but we wanted them anyway. ;)

it was 12.99 much cheaper than most I've seen. The tag doesn't specify a cultivator. But it's pretty and I like it. So there it is lol.

I use a moisture meter to test how dry it is. when it say dry I just give it a little water, and usually check them every two or three days. I do not let them sit in water.

OK< Butterfly girl, here ya go---these are the pictures of my Orchids........ This first plant is my Daughter's orchid---it is done blooming for now. This is the one that was on its way to dieing before it came to live at my house. it is doing really well now don't you think??? the second one is of her pot of 3 or is it 4 orchid bulbs that she planted a few weeks back--it has really taken off. It is a Peacock Orchid. and lastly is my Orchid---it is also done blooming for now---but it has a new leaf peeking out from the soil if you can see it??

Another easy way is to use a BBQ Skewer place it in the pot and leave it there, when you want to check to see if the plant needs water pull the BBQ Skewer out and if it is still moist then do not water, this prevents overwater orchids.
