We live in AZ on 2 Acres and I have been trying to kill Ants close to our House without insecticide. I have read in many places online to use cornmeal or instant grits. Every day for the last 2 weeks i have put lots of that around the antholes and the path they take and not any result. They are not fireants, thank god but big black ants that make chambers underground not hills. Can anyone tell me of some other nontoxic way to kill them ? I dont wont to hurt any wildlife or my cat.

I have ants in my greenhouse....they are the small red ants and I have been hitting them with borax (powder soap) mixed with icing sugar. It takes about 2 days and I'm seeing that they're either gone or have moved else where. They do show up again in another spot but this solution is easy to use so I've been at it every time I see a tiny hill that ants make.

I think you should use chemicals around your house and get some ant traps to kill them....I also use vinegar and water in a spray bottle, they hate the smell and it keeps them at bay for a few days. But unfortunatly chemicals really do the trick!
