Help!

I have a hibiscus that has sprouted up. A family member brought over a seedling to a groundcover she had in her yard for me to transplant into mine, and apparently a seedling from one of her hibiscuses was also thrown into the mix... Can anyone ID this? It seems as though we cant attach pics on this forum, so I will be more than happy to email them... Thanks!

Secondly, last year I purchased a Mandevilla and it bloomed beautifully all summer long and into the fall. It was definitely a vine, and I had it wound around a trellis. Not knowing this plant was a perennial, after it died off I left the pot outside all winter. Within the last month it has taken off and now looks like a bush, not a vine. Also, lots and lots of healthy looking leaves, but no sign of flowers. What should I do?

Thanks!

(I live in Southern VA, zone 7)

Mandevillas are typically zone 9 perennials, and can survive zone 8 winters with die back. I've never heard of one surviving zone 7, especially in a pot, but it could always happen. Are you sure it's the mandevilla in the pot and not something else that managed to reseed in that pot? If you're sure it is, flowering will take some time since it is having to regrow from the roots. You can send me photos of both plants if you want...just PM me for my email addy.

I'm in southeastern LA, and my mandevilla is not blooming yet either. Mine is planted in the ground, I cut it back after the freeze (and lots of snow this past Dec) it's growing like wildfire and I always have a trellis for the runners. Seems it starts blooming here sometime in Jun/Jul...blooms all the way til Nov when we normally have a freeze.
