VERY nice, Diane! Yep - it looks just like my variegated jade. I had bought one a couple of years ago, but it was in the family room corner where I just cannot seem to get rid of mealy bugs - have been fighting them for years there, even though I've done everything I've read and been told! It bit the dust, sadly...

Tina sent me a couple of small cuttings from her outdoor jade a year ago - it didn't do well for a long time, but I've moved it, and it seems to be perking up and liking its new spot. I hope it takes off - I really like the colors!

Ohhhh Cooool!! Thanks Lynne!!!! Right Now I have mine outside I really don't know the lighting requirement. I have it on a rubbermaid shelf on the second shelf so it doesn't get direct sun So far soo good , anticipating this summers heat I may just leave it there ,, I bet it really has to grow and mature before it will bloom Huh???

The strange thing about mine is... I had it by a southern window in this room - gets morning to mid-day sun during the winter, and moved it into Brian's room in the [color:#CC33CC]EXACT SAME window setting - just a few feet down the hall here. For whatever reason, it's doing better in there!?!

I'm going to try and get Tina in here to answer your questions, Diane - I do think that my cuttings came from a pretty large bush of it in her yard!

It does look like a v.jade. It will take as much light and heat as you can give it. Mine grow to about four feet tall here outside. Some of them didn't take the unusual freezes this year and are looking raggedy right now. But they can take quite a bit of cold if necessary.

This is not variegated but this one survived the freezing well because it was slightly protected.

I am in semi-desert S Ca. We get temps as hot and dry as your, I think. I just don't know how cold (sustained) it gets there. We had freezing for a week or about and all of the jades survived, even if they don't look their best right now.

That plant is [color:#CC33CC]ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! [/color]

I just can't even imagine growing a jade like that!
I am happy with my small ones in pots!!!

It's so fascinating to see how different plants grow differently across the county, ya know? What we treasure as houseplants here, are grown as outdoor plants there! Also... in Florida a few weeks ago, there were numerous [color:#CC33CC]ficus
hedges! Well... if one is able to keep a ficus as a houseplant here, they are doing something right!

And I think of jades as "background" plants. They are here, there and everywhere around here. Kind of un-noticable. They bloom pink in mid-winter and I don't care much for pink blooms. i grow jades because they are easy and just do their thing without much care.

That huge, blooming jade is simply awesome!!!
I, also, am wondering how mature they have to be before they bloom.

Diane, your varigated is so pretty. I enjoy things that are 'different'.
If you ever feel like you could remove one leaf and send it my way I would be so happy!!!

I was lucky enough to get a cutting of a variegated jade last week. I can't wait for it to root and start growing. :-0

Angel, I'll post a picture of it today or tomorrow. Once the batteries I use for my camera are recharged. It's a scrawny thing right now. I know it will be lovely by this time next year though.
