Someone left this out in the lobby - don't know who and I don't know what it is.

Ohhh! So should I put this thing outside, do you think?

When you got your 'privets' did they look like this plant of mine?

I think it's a myrtle topiary. I saw some for sale at Costco a few weeks ago, and they looked like yours (with the clay pot and pebble top)

Helping the world one seed at a time

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

It looks so well cared for that one would wonder as to why it's been abandoned...(sigh).. For sure, it's an outside plant, so it would be at home out on the balcony.

Now as for my privet hedge, I started with a chance seedling - a gift from a bird, if you may - years and years ago, and the thing sent out rooted sucker growth, providing me with a supply of enough clones to set out along the fence and create a green wall. So I guess the answer is: no.

Click Ligustrum amurensefor its description.

Just my guess; kennyso's may be the better one.

Oh, a few people in this building drop off plants they've been growing on the balcony - or sometimes, it's just a gift they got and they pass it on to me.

My husband's the super of the building and I'm the self-appointed gardener.

So, I guess this isn't really an indoor plant then.

Oh, for heaven's sake! Kenny!

Looks like this is 'our man' right here . . .

That's exactly what the thing looks like.

Thanks, Kenny!

And, thanks, of course, to Neko Nomad . . . gave me a little something about privets.

Do the leaves have a wonderful scent when crushed, Carly? I love myrtles for fillers if I ever do an arrangement (rarely) because of the scent. They also will bloom some lovely, smallish, fluffy white blossoms. I don't know if they can winter over outdoors in your zone.

It so happened it died this week - just crumbled away - I used the pot for something else.

We kept it in the lobby all summer - argued over its watering - I went online and it said to water it every day - Jeff argued only twice a week.

So he did that - and it died.

I will never forgive this man, but I can't live without him, soooo . . . I'll just GET ANOTHER PLANT!

Y'know?

I am sorry. Is the funeral to be held by the compost pile? That is sad though. I dislike losing plants.
