I've been looking at those mini laptops. I've seen them from $190 to $250, with and without attachments.

Does anyone know about these laptops? Are they worthwhile?

What features should a person look for before buying?

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

My husband has on and really likes it. His is an Acer Inspire and has had no problems. I've read that HP has the best one right now.

What should you look for?
The same things you look for in any laptop.
Memory, built in camera, ability to connect to a larger screen, number of USB ports, cd or dvd drive, screen size, size of hard drive, ect. Some manufacturers also offer a choice of colors.

You just have to decide what you want in terms of memory or hard drive and/or anything else you have to have then see whats available at the price you want to pay. My husband's doesn't have a cd drive but he doesn't care. He can always connect a portable one if he wants to.

I hope that helps.

Merme,
most of them are 1GB so look for the ones that are expandable to 2GB,
Look for a media card reader(slot) -(for just inserting the card from the camera straight into the computer for faster easier loading)
some have built in web cam But at a low # usually 1.3mp or slightly higher, Tho having the webcam may mark the price up too. Try to get one with at least 2 usb ports preferably 3

Make sure there is built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g)
some have the dvd rom drive but most do not,, the ones that do are more costly.
I think IF I got one I wouldn't get one with all the bells and whistles,,, I would just use it when traveling,, or take to work.
you can always go on line Pick a store and view their mini's and read the "Specs" on each one and that will give you a better idea which kind/brand would be best for your personal use.

The Asus EEEPC and Acer Inspire are great offerings; in fact, if I had the money to replace the one that my ex wife walked off with I'd re-buy the Asus EEEPC...

They're great machines, most run Linux natively, but some offer windows xp.

If you can deal with the small keyboard and small screen then yes, i highly recommend them.
