Is anyone else here familiar with Kenny Rankin's wonderful music? :ding: I started listening to him in my late teen years, and he was a big part of what attracted Don and me to each other. We both really liked his music luv, while most of our friends had never heard of him.

We used his "cover" version of "You Are So Beautiful" for our wedding song, and got so see him perform live a few times at a small cafe in our county here when we first moved here. clap He hadn't been back this way in a number of years though.

He died on June 7th from lung cancer at 69. tears
It is first in the news today though.

He was about to make a new album - we will miss him a lot.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Thank you for letting us know, Lynne.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Lynne---I am sorry such a sad thing had to have happened. I join Merme in saying "May he rest in Peace"--
I cannot say I personally had ever heard of him, but then I often did not know the artists of the songs I would hear and enjoy.---I guess I had other things on my mind-- why I do however remember "You Are So Beautiful".

Thanks Merme and Carol.

It was surprising to read that he was only diagnosed 3 weeks ago!!! He must have been suffering before getting medical attention don't you think?

I've been listening to his music on youtube all day. There are so many wonderful tributes to him - his followers were very loyal and appreciative of his wonderful voice and talents.

Lynne, last night I listened to him on Utube as well.and saved many of his songs on my utube. I really enjoyed listening to him playing acoustic guitar, I had forgotten his many guitar solo's~ soothing~ melodies. "Oh so peaceful here" is one of my fav's~What matters most is his Heart tugger song I think.
I agree he must have been suffering before diagnosed, many times one doesn't know the symptoms and just doesn't go to the dr. Sad.

He'll be missed :ding:

Thanks for those pictures, Diane. kissie It gave me the chills to look at them - I just cannot believe he is gone. tears I told my parents yesterday that he was "my Frank Sinatra" :ding: - it's the only way I could explain to them how much I loved his music and personality! They finally got it!

I was very sad all day. When Don got home I was still listening to songs on youtube, and he immediately went out to my car to retrieve the CD that he had gotten me a few years ago - "The Best of Kenny Rankin" - he made himself a copy to listen to on the way to work today.

We were so lucky to have been able to see him perform in person in some intimate settings. The first time was on my birthday in 1989 when he performed in an outdoor concert here in town at a mansion that had been converted into offices. I had a fever of 102 that day, but nothing could keep me from going to that concert!!!

The next few times was in a very very small nightclub cafe on the other side of our county. It was like sitting down with an old friend and listening to him play - HEAVEN!!! clap
