I purchased 1 grape tomato plant and one beefsteak tomato plant. I planted them next to each other so that the flowers of both plants touch. Will the seeds from the tomatoes if planted next year result in a hybrid? The beefsteak flowers are short where the grape flowers and longer.

They would.Bees sometimes visit tomato flowers though they would usually hang around cucumbers and melons.

I was reading further and it said now that this is rare to occur, but 2-5% chance is possible and can happen, due to the fact pollen is released before the flower usually opens, and that's why tomato flowers point down before opening to make the pollen fall and pollinate, they self pollinate.

Are your plants now hybrids? If they might not be true anyway. And if not in my opinion if the branches are together and the flowers touching the chance of a cross is higher. If you choose a tomato to save seeds from where they don't touch there is less chance of being a cross. Jay
