I planted some and I want to know more about them.How do they taste like and how big do they get?

Well, there are hot bananas and mild bananas, I love them both, the mild are great for just about aything. Luv 'em, luv 'em, luv 'en. Fresh, pickled, cooked, they really are da bomb! Much as I love peppers, bananas are as good as it gets, unless you wamt to burn your mouth and sweat for 45 minutes!
(The sweet, you can eat in salads or saute in oil for sandwiches,' pr ,ale the best pickles known to man>
I guess my point is I'm fond of 'em.

Oh, and 5 to 7 inches is good, but leafve a few to turn orange/red, they get a fuller flavor, sweeter, and it'll help you know ;how large they get before picking the green ones.

banana are my favorite pepper! I"m growing hot banana this year, but when cooked they loose the hotness and you just get the flavor. YUM! they are great for stuffing, good in stews, chili, taco meat, salsa, salads, sandwiches....you name it.
I often wonder why the jalapeno ever became so popular??? a hot banana is the best of both worlds - sweet and hot...but not too hot like dave said.
the variety I'm growing this year grow 5-7 inches....they're lucky if they make it to 7 I pick and eat them so fast. two years ago we had banana pep's getting 10 inches or so. talk about the perfect stuffing pepper!

AWWWW....pickled banana peppers on top of a cracker smothered in cream cheese.......

The biggest banana pepper so far is about 5in. long. I'll let it grow some more before I pick it.

If the plant is loading up, feel free to pick a few, or as many as you like, this early, they'll keep on loadin up!
Think about; starting fresh or trasnpalting to some 2 or 3 gallon containers to bring indoors for the winter, with any exposure to sun, they'll comtinue to produce all year.

didn't know that dave. I thought they'd have to have a LOT of sun and the soil would have to be a certain temp....of course, maybe indoors....70-80 degrees would be warm enough??? sounds like it'd be worth a try though.

cricket...I had a jalapeno produce about 2 dozen fruit with almost no sun, the plant was really robust...one other plant, an anaheim, I think it was, held on to a good dozen fruit for a long time, with no direct sun...the trick was probably that they were forming fruit when I brought them in.
I've heard stories of people putting hot peppers in 1 gallon containers is a south facing window for the winter, and they were so hot (I guess from root constriction and etc.) they were twice as hot as usual!
(too hot for me unless I just feel MACHO!)

I potted up an Anaheim & had peppers into December I think. Or November. Either way, we had peppers. Also potted up banana & bell in the same pot. They were in a sun room, but only had N & W exposure.

BUT-- and here's the big thing-- took them all outside and I have peppers NOW. Those I started inside or bought at the nursery won't be peppering for several more weeks.

I got some banana peppers and stuffed them with scrambled eggs. My dad ate them before I could eat them.

WHOA!!!! that sounds good!
so did you scramble the eggs first then put them in the pepper and bake? If so, did you add any water or butter?

Next year I'm going to plant about 5-10 banana pepper plants. I like them more than jalapenos.
