Good morning. I am shopping for clothes for my son today. Ted has some special requirements that makes shopping a challenge. I don't expect to find much today for him. That is usually a long drawn out affair. I won't take him along for that. Well, maybe for part of it I will.

Morning Tina.. hope you have a good shopping trip ... and not to hard a job finding clothes for Ted... I can relate a little ... when we were in AZ we took my bil who is autistic to get some clothes... he will only wear matching as in same color and shade ..long sleeved shirts and long pants... with a belt.. he lives where it is over 100 most of the summer... we tried for yrs to get him to wear shorts,,, no way... so now we just buy what he likes and thats it ... he used to tell everyone who wore shorts to change but finally gave that up..
I am off to take a shower and then go deadhead some flowers and roses... while it's still in shade out there..

good afternoon all. it is a lazy day here. It is between 91 and 96 right now supposed to get up to 98 today with the heat index being in the triple digets. so I am doing a whole lot of nothing.--Well there is laundry going but that is an indoor sport... lol

if we must have supper I think it will be pancakes & ham & possibly some cherry tomatoes. Simple, quick & it should not heat up the kitchen much.

I ate a home grown tomatoe for lunch today, carol. it was wonderful. we like breakfast for supper too around here....comfort food.

I too understand a bit what you go through with ted's cloths, tina. my mother was not autistic but mentally disabled. we FINALLY got her to wear short in the blistering heat of summer, but ONLY if that was all that was in her closet. But, during the winter I never could get her to wear anything but a night gown. she would NOT sleep in sweat pants or pajamas. she was not going to budge on that one in a million years! I'd just throw a couple of extra blankets on her bed and try not to think about it. ha ha

triple digits here again today.

our darling puppy chewed my ficus almost to bits. gonna post a question in the tree thread here in a bit.

Ted wears sweat pants all year. He needs and likes the elastic waist. Finding that in any other pants his size is tough. And his current sweats are wearing out. I would love to find pajama bottoms like I see in the men's section in his sizes. Those would do nicely.

I usually have ripe tomatoes somewhere arounf the 4th of July, criocket. This year I am lucky to even have a few green tomatoes. But they are tjhe small cherry type. Ah well I will have tomatoes sooner or later, I am sure.

I read about the "run in" your puppy had with the ficus tree. I hear they are hardy so I am rooting for it to make it. But somehow it needs to be put up so the puppy cannot reach it, right???? Will that be possible???

It is terrible hot here this afternoon---and the DH thinks we should not have the air on. GRRRRRRR

hubby's! tapfoot "can't live with them......especially if you change the security code on them." lol

I do hope my ficus makes it too! at least SOME part of it.
my options for getting it away from the puppy are, on the roof - but then the direct sun would fry it, or move it into the house - major shock. it doesn't even like it much when I bring it in for the winter.

hot hot, here as usual! (why do I keep saying that - it's a given right?) I filled up the doggie pool and ended up getting in there with them. lol they seemed to enjoy my company! bow

got out of the shower just 60 minutes ago. (9:10 my time)

I didnt start planting my latest plants tonight until 7:30 in the evening.---and I planted quite a few. It was very hot but it is predicted to storm tonight so I thought a good soaking might be just the ticket to help them get a proper start not to mention it will be about 10 degrees cooler this next week so I thought I had better get them in the ground ASAP.

and yes I know I am very late with this planting, but hey--it is better late than never right???

I am finally cooling down---Boy, I must really be out of shape!!!

Cricket, you lucky dog. I have green tomatoes but that's it. Seems like it's taking forever for them to turn this year.

Tina, wonder if you could buy regular pants and have the waist band changed to elastic.

I too like potato salad but rarely make it. Usually only if I'm taking it somewhere or people are coming to eat. It's a lot of work.

it is a lot of work sheri...maybe that's why we don't make 'just cause'.
it seemed like forever for our green tomatoes to turn. then once they did we were getting an average of one a day. then an average of two a day. we froze a lot. now with this drought they are slowing down again. everything is slowing down. I haven't picked one single pepper in 2-3 weeks! they say MAYBE some rain tomorrow.
hear the dogs barking.......hope thats the kidos coming home from 'vacation'!

I could do that myself. And I would if Ted would wear them. He is very picky on the feel of the fabric on his skin. He doesn't like pocket tees or tags on his clothing. But doesn't like the iron on 'tags' that they put on things these days either. He won't wear any shirts with images on them.
If there was a fabric shop in town any more I would purchase some t-shirt material and make him pants myself. They have taken every fabric shop out of town. I will have to travel for that I guess. I have fabric but mostly girly stuff. He wouldn't object but I would.

What is up with fabric shops? I just mentioned it to someone yesterday. There is 1 left in all of Charlotte although WalMart does have a few choices in fabric.

One of my nieces wouldn't wear clothes that touched her body for years. She said they hurt and acted like they did. She wore big tee shirts and sweats until she was a teenager. She wouldn't wear socks no matter how cold. My sister used to fret about it because she wanted her little girl to look cute, especially for church, but she would cry as if in pain. She got a little better in middle school as far as the fit but still doesn't wear a lot of material. I'm sure that people who don't know her think she's a hoochie mama but she's really not. She just can't stand a lot of material touching her body so she's changed from tees and sweats to tiny tops and bottoms. Sandals all year long no matter how cold.

it was the kids. and the ONLY positive thing I've heard so far is "I got a new pair of flip flops". and this statement came from the kido that doesn't like the way flippers feel between his toes!
Now I know why I was missing them so bad even though it was just a couple of days. they are not liking hanging out with the 'others' like me and hubby don't like hanging out with them.
sad!
that is the only grandparents they have.

Tina , what size does Ted wear... I buy the pj bottoms for the boys all the time- that all they will wear and I find them for the little and big boys- to bad you don't have a fabric shop in town anymore I find most of mine at JoAnns here when I do decide to buy it, does he like the feel of flannel? I would buy the flannel sheets on sale and make them from that... used to do that for pj's ...have bought them at thrift stores to use for pillows or body pillow cases... they seem to have a lot of them here but I don't know if you would find them there as easily.

I don't know about the price of fabric around the country, but I gotta say when I was off work for those 3 years I took up sewing (among a dozen other hobbies) and sewing is EXPENSIVE!

glad to have my 'babies' back home and happy!
