Just wanted to post a quick note for those of you with Cannon cameras... Some of the earlier SD series of cameras where made to be "disposable", aka, they don't use quality parts, that's why they where so cheap to the end users. The E18 error indicates that there is a lens problem in the camera, in my case (yes, I was the proud owner of the SD500, purchased the week it shipped in 2005) the "teeth" in the gear assembly which opens and closes the lens where grinded down from use (or misuse by my 4 year old trying to force the lens shut). What's the fix you may ask? Well, some users experience "luck" in forcing the lens shut should it be "half open" on one side, or "tapping" it against a hard surface... My experience, all this is going to really do is break it further. My recommendation, don't bother paying to have it repaired, it'll run you about $119+ just to have a guy look at it, you almost have enough there to buy a new camera in that repair cost. Myself, looks like I'm going to be attempting to save for the SD780 IS, yeh, it's a cannon, but I've had great experiences with them :P.

That is sad ..
I have a fujifilm cheapo ......I still use.
Every couple months it says error....... So I take out batteris and card , let it set around.. If it dont work do it couple more times.........Resetting is useless.
It does come back after a couple days..
I keep using it and my canon s5..
Ole favorites we get hooked on ..

Lol, well, I wanted the Rebel XSi but its pricetag is problematic for me :P (Having enough issues wondering where I'm getting $300, let alone $550+)...

Hey I got a whole passel of point-and-shoot cameras. They take better Macro than my big one!
