The previous owners planted this perennial flower and I would like to know what it is. It has a blueish purple flower and is about 12"-18" tall. Leaves are fairly dull and come to a point, with scalloped edges. Mine flops over, so I would like to know what to do to prevent this. It is growing in partial shade. Please see my pictures. I believe it has the same coloring as russian sage.

I have also attached a picture of another tall perennial that maybe someone can identify.

Thank you!

I can see the flowers but I'm not sure what they are. They look like snapdragons, but snapdragons are annuals. Maybe I'm wrong. Sure are pretty.

The blooms looks like a type of salvia to me. Do the leaves have a minty smell? If so, it needs more sun to keep it from flopping over.

The top photo is something in the mint family. The bottom one I haven't got a clue.

I say salvia. The flowers are very characteristic. Check to look for square stems, and a distinct minty smell.
