All of those will come back next year in your zone won't they Carol? I know the sedum will for sure!
Lynne sent me pineapple sage seeds two years ago and they did awesome, and still are doing very well grin
That's great you have good starter cuttings Carol, especially now that your physically better, you can get outside more often and watch them grow clap Very Good Timing Lynne! thumbup

I am so glad they got to you so quickly, Carol. I was afraid when you told me how hot it was the other day. We have not gotten out of the 60's for the better part of 2 weeks, except for yesterday.

By the way... the sedum and echinacea are baby plants that have roots, so they can be planted right away. They were growing in my gardens, and I never pull out baby plants unless I am moving them, or sharing.

The pineapple sage is NOT hardy here or by you most likely, but it does get lots of seeds, so you can grow those next year, if the seeds I sent don't grow this year.

OH goodness am I blush. Next time I will unwrap all my gifts totally before I post!! Of course Lynne is absolutely correct.

Carol got to do some planting!!! Rod came in to tell me we were about 30 minutes away from rain (& now we hear a storm)--so I ran out. He offered to help me i f I wanted him to luv

I have just now come in the house from planting the echinacea, and the sedum from Lynne. I then transferred my volunteer purple echinacea to the home of the ones that failed to come back this year. THEN I planted my stepables under the water spigot.---

YEA ME!!!!![Linked Image]

I'm so glad to see that you got to do some planting Carol!
I bet that felt good!!!

Can't wait to see some pictures of your flowers once they are blooming!
The echinacea from me most likely will not bloom this year though - it's been my experience that the babies bloom the second year.

I'm so glad that Rod offered to help you - seems he realizes how difficult it's been for you to wait this long to garden?

Cindy: Yes next year I will be sure to post pictures---I think I will get some pics of them now & then next year do a then & now thing. Thanks for making me think of that idea.

Lynne: Yep it did feel good. But I have quite a lot that needs to be done yet.
........(some I can even actually do!!!)
..............I promise to take photos as things bloom. I think in a day or so I have some yellow goblin that I will be posting.--it is some that has come back from last year. yea!!!

..............About Rod--I am sure he knew how much it meant to me to get out and plant, but I do not think he wanted me doing it---he is afraid I will hurt myself. nervous

Sheri: Thank You, Thank You very much!!! grin

I thought I would show Lynne her newest addition to my "gardens"

First is the Autumn Joy Sedum babies that she sent me. It is doing well with the exception of the few "bites" that have been taken out by some mini "critter"--Sorry Lynne--I will take better care in the future.

Here is the baby Echinacea that she sent me. I think they are to flower both white and Pink.
Boy I cannot wait.

[Linked Image]

About the pineapple sage--they are both doing well and the one has a good supply of roots.I promise to be planting the one cutting, turned baby plant soon. thumbup

They look GREAT Carol! Thanks for posting the pictures!

I think the baby sedum already had a few small bites unfortunately - sorry about that.

The coneflower are EITHER purple (which looks like pink to me!) OR white, or some of each. I had one large white plant and many large purple plants in the area those babies came from, so it's a bit of pot luck.

Concerning the color of them, that is just fine with me, Lynne---I love the idea of a surprise.

I think I will try to find something to put on the baby sedum --just in case---

Lynne: I really need to get photos but I just wanted you to know--that I have a few "red" flower-ettes on the pineapple sage "bush" (which is what it looks like now)---I have 1 and possibly 2 buds on the coneflowers that you sent--and unless my eyes decieve me the itty bitty autum joy sedum is trying to get a few buds---

obviously they all like Illinois soil-- why

Carol I am so THRILLED for you! I can't wait to see pictures of the blooms!

My pineapple sage shows no signs of any flower stalks yet - that is why I don't plant them every year - the plants get huge but no flowers until just before frost and then they don't always open fully. That said though... I just LOVE to rub the leaves when I walk buy and smell that delicious scent! I wish I could bottle it!!!

me too Lynne. Last year mine bloomed, this year the plant is big but no flowers. They're so gorgeous when they do bloom though.
