I just moved to a new house a few weeks ago where we have a small garden by the patio. Is there any sort of flowers that I can plant this late in the year?

I've never gardened before, so you'll have to talk very basic with me.

FYI: We're in the middle of Ohio, and our little garden is on the NW corner of our house.

hello sweet tooth. someone will come along and move this where you will get the most and best answers but I would say to go to your garden center and see what looks good and read the tags. As long as you can water everyday you've probably got some choices.

Welcome.

Hi sweet tooth!

NW corner isn't idea, but if it gets some morning sun, you still have many options for flowers, I think.

Impatients would be great if it's mostly shady. If it's on a corner that gets all day sun, you can still plant seeds like zinnias.

Can you tell us a bit more about how much sun/shade you have &b how large the garden is?

You may want to just plant some annuals this year, as you are watching how the sun moves, and checking out the soil and so on. And then plan an herb & perennial garden next year!

I agree with Jonni, sweet tooth. Speaking as someone that had some health issues to deal with when I should of been planting, I am here to say yes---go to your gardening center, and buy what looks best---and water water water----

In my opinion shade versus sun is more the issue that north verses south , etc.
While directions DO play a role---the main focus is drainage & sun/shade.

Do as Jonni suggested and read your tags that are in each flower pot.

if you are talking veggies, here, I am sure someone will come along and help you.
