Hello everyone,

I just got big into gardening this year, so Im still learning alot!! Today I noticed very small black things attached to some of the leaves on my "twisty baby" locust tree. They are very small (about the size of ground pepper), black, and seem smooth and domed. I can rub them off with my fingernail, but the hose will not rinse them off. Im new to the forum and still making a webpage so I can show a picture later. Any ideas?

First thought is aphids. But usually they can be blasted off with a good spray from the hose.

And do post a pic as soon as you can!

set up a photobucket account or use google's picasa photo loading feature. Either would be somewhat easier than building a website, though that's a good idea for future use. Try making a mixture of 1.5 TBs dawn dishsoap, 3 TBs tabasco, to one gallon water and spraying. Several cloves of ground garlic will help. Do't spray in the heat of the day or you may suffer leaf burn.
