Good news about the chair!

I got the yellow towels but they aren't the same yellow as the "lost" yellow towels. I wanted YELLOW. Screaming YELLOW. The new ones are buttercup. Sissy buttercup. Ah well. Such is life.

Stupid groundhog ate another German Johnson tomato.

Back at it!

The shade of yellow you like, Marcia, is the hue I enjoy also. I calls it "bran' spankin' yella!!" lol Like a clear, saturated blast o' sunshine.

Spare me the dim yellows, thanks.

I've always had a yellow & white kitchen until recent years. Now that I live in an "orchard", I've gone with red & white apple motif. But I add my touches of yellow where I can.... I miss it too much not to add it here and there.

Yes, I'm delighted about my chair, too. I can't believe they put it through so fast! The company is an hour away & wanted to deliver it tomorrow late morning but that would be after I left for dialysis so they agreed to come after 5 when I am home again so I don't have to wait until Monday. But I am so pleased it isn't taking an entire month that I wouldn't even mind waiting til Monday!

I wonder if Tina got all her hoses laid?

Does anyone know when Nana is leaving on her trip? I've lost track.

Tina bought 3/ 50 ft no-kink hoses and a few plants and some plant food and a few other things for a total of $150. One hose is being used as I type.

I"d LOVE to have a salsa show down with enrique! He'd probably win, but maybe I could learn a few of his secrets.

that's a bummer about the towels, marica. I know you were looking forward to that exact shade you had before the aliens came and took them.......WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!!...........ALIENS!.....hhhmmm..... any idea's where they may have gone now? I belive we have a member that hangs out with aliens frequently!

Merme, GREAT news on your new chair! You will be doing wheelies again in no time. thumbup

I drug out my quilt making project I started before spring. I forgot how much I enjoy sewing! clap I plan on having this quilt made by the time we get some cold weather. It is completly made of recycled clothing. the only new thing in it will be the tread!

I am letting a dirty fying pan soak in hot water for a while so I can heat up the oil to make tortilla chips.I am going to chop up some tomatoes, and peppers for salsa.I was going to make soe bread, but my mom told me to wait until later in th evening to bake it because of the extreme heat(todays high was 103). Tomorrow morning I'm going to surprise my mom with some fresh baked bread. She'll love to wake up to the smell of bread baking.

I don't know, Cricket, about Enrique winning a showdown for Salsa. I learned a salsa recipe a long time ago from a member here and I give it as gifts during the holidays. My friends are addicted to it and eat it with a spoon... it rarely makes it onto food on a plate! lol

I just made a half a cup of coffee. I'm tired but want some, so I only made a little because I want to get myself to bed soon.

I hope my new chair is nice because I spend so much time in it. I hate sitting in alien chairs.... they don't feel normal... they feel like foreign objects, making me think "What IS this I am sitting on?!"

By the way, Sheri, I do not know if my dialysis unit is understaffed. There are 18 patients at a time, divided into two groups because the room is divided by a half wall. On most days, each side of the half wall gets a nurse and 2 techs, except during lunch, breaks, or when they are "short". There is also usually a nurse sitting at the front desk doing paperwork. Is that understaffed?

I know in the hospital & in rehab there are no techs and each nurse gets only 2 patients.

So see? I have nothing to compare our outpatient unit with as it is the only one I've been in.

nope. but, you gave me a good idea. I think I'll take pictures along the way! thumbup this will be my first quilt. I got this great book from the library last winter that showed pattern layouts for quilts. I got several peice cut out and sewn together....but looking at it now I have NO idea what I was going for. (you know, I can dress myself and match....but as far as matching up quilt pieces or figuring out which shade of yellow towel goes well the rest...I'm clueless!)
that would be a fun topic, huh? I could show you guys what I have so far and get ideas! clap.......hhhmmmm..

Good Morning everyone wavy

This has been a long week,, 3 days with out internet, *time warner always going out rolz*, still regrouping after company was here, huge work load at the job, dealing with 105* in the shade, I'm so glad it Friday grin
I woke up this morning it's raining clap we are having a cool front come in this weekend it's only going to be in the mid 90's notme lol lol.
This morning I had to get up a little earlier because I'm making deviled eggs to take to work,, someone's birthday and they asked for deviled eggs with a twist zoink
SO I'm making cajun crab dip deviled eggs with fine chopped green onion on top, shrimp deviled eggs with a black olive on top, regular deviled eggs with bacon bits and finely grated cheese on top.
I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to lay it out on a large cookie sheet. I was thinking maybe lay leafs of lettuce down first then rest the eggs on that and sprinkle cherry tomatoes here and there why
I'll take all that to work with me and figure it out there. I have the cherry tomatoes in a ziplock bag with olive oil and some seasoning in it in the fridge with a bit of lime juice,, I've read that lime juice brings out the flavor of tomatoes . I guess we see lol
I'd better get busy,, time is getting away from me,,
have a good day everyone wavy

Happy Friday! thumbup

I'm taking the towels back. Aliens is a distinct possibility.

Now about this quilting thing, Cricket. Have you ever made a wedding ring quilt?

We signed the papers with the realtor yesterday. Post-dated to Monday. So officially the house goes on the market at 9am 7/20/2009. And, in a moment of absolute clarity when we were starting up painting the hallway, again-- it's basically 4 stories tall, yesterday, we made a decision and a phone call. "Lucion [the contractor], how much to paint the hallways & the living room? We can't pay you until the end of the month." $120-130. If you ever doubted that there were reliable, good people out there in the world, Lucion is proof there are. He'll be here today.

Just posted some photos somewhere (Gardener's Chat, I think.)

Off to work in the garden for a few minutes before we begin again.

I didn't see before we were on page 3. So I missed a bunch of stuff. Oopps.

Rain would be nice. We have possibilities of t-storms today. But scattered. That usually means someplace else gets the rain and we get high humidity and heat.

I am up and running. Have water going on my plants and am getting ready to take my son to school.

Good morning, everybody!

I don't know about anyone else, but I am going to the party at Diane's work! I want to sample those fancy eggs! lol It should only take a few days to wheel myself there... maybe less if I get a good wind at my back! haha

We are expecting a big storm moving in up here... I am hoping it has spent itself out before it comes to Maine.

I am on my mini vacation right now as I type and enjoying every minute of it.. had to come up the the B&B from the cabin to get on line but it is so pretty here- this deck is up in the pine tree.. can look out into the trees and see the birds - will try and take a pic to show up but sun is behind the clouds right now and it is sprinkleing so dn't know if it will work... it is beautiful here and so relaxing... hot tub last night was heaven.
Merme so glad they can get you a new chair so quickly--- there is an answer to a prayer right there...
I love sun yellow too and my kitchen in Glendale was yellow and brown.. was really bright and cheery..
Well off to go sit by the river and just veg for a while- have a book and a drink so am all ready.

One more thing about the family from Louisiana....our temps right now are way below average. It is 66 today and the average high is 84 and we get lots of 90s this time of year. So, we are all chilly and they are really chilly coming from LA. Well, last night after dinner we had a bonfire. They couldn't get over that. They were taking pictures of all of us standing around the fire because they couldn't believe that anybody would have a fire in July. lol We were all laughing because they just couldn't get over that. They kept saying...this is crazy, who the heck has a fire in July! haha Well even though it is normally hot here this time of year the nights get a little cooler and we do have a lot of bonfires. Summer is the only time we can really have them here.

I live in SoCal and heat with wood. We most often have a fire going at least at night right through most of June. And often during the day too.
I have been busy with my pole saw this morning. I have some huge piles to go the the green waste dump. And I am feeling accomplished. But finished for the day, I think.

That's funny Jessica. Summertime is bonfire season here. Every summer, every beach, every evening you see many bonfires. I used to participate in those in my younger days but now I prefer to stay away from crowds. You've been unusually cool and we've had unusually hot weather. After our unusually cold winter and our snow storm of the decade (hopefully), the weather is just crazy everywhere I guess. The kids go back to their mom's today and I have an appointment this afternoon. Other than that it's going to be a pretty boring and relaxing day. Maybe I'll go take out the grass that grew in behind my garden. I've been putting that off. Maybe I'll put it off one more week because our yard waste container is overflowing due to our neighbors doing some yard work over on their side. Gotta remember to get my shots today too.

Where is everyone tonight? why

My wheelchair was delivered & I'm not at all happy with it! The seat & back are canvas, for heaven's sakes! Those of us who use chairs all the time have them out & about in all types of weather. Even just going from my door to the chair van, my chair gets soaked. With the vinyl seat & back, we just wipe it off. Not to mention that I sit in it from the shower. Of course, we cover the chair with my giant towel, but even so... This will take forever to dry and I doubt it will last long without rotting.

It is raining again.

Oh, that is not good, Merme. you are going to need to call and complain about that. I didn't even think they made canvas ones anymore.
I am beginning to wish I had napped today. I have been out planting some things now that the sun gave me a little shade.

Merme, can you get some type of slip cover until you can get this mess straightened out. I've never even seen a canvas cushion on a wheel chair. Someone made a big mistake.

Tina, I took a nap. Now I want ice cream.

I've never seen a canvas wheel chair either. even the sporty looking ones are vinyl.
I had a short work day this morning. I came home and ate and tried to nap. the kids kept walking back and forth and bumping the recliner or my feet. I gave up after about an hour of trying then getting suddenly jerked back to awake. I hate that feeling.
merme, I was cracking up at you talking about wheeling yourself to the party and hoping to get a good wind behind you! haha
I pulled a few weeds in the garden a while ago. and I DO mean a few. I was sweating by the time I got out there.

And I am perspiring like crazy. The temperatures finally dipped below 95 so I figured I could go out and put some plants in the ground and maybe tweak a couple of sprinklers. I did get two 5 gallon bucket plants planted and two 1 gallon. And straightened out a few wayward sprinklers. But came in with a soaked t-shirt and not from my irrigation system. I also put out some organic snail stuff I am trying for the first time.
I am not whining. I actually like the heat much better than the cold. It is kinder to my arthritic parts. But the rest of my body doesn't always like it so much.
