Dahlia 'Karma Choc' or Aquilegia vulgaris 'Black Barlow' or Black Peony Poppy or Scabiosa 'Ace of Spades' (Pincushion flower). I'm out of guesses.

I do recall planting it . I has tiny white flecks in it also.
