I missed most of the party last night so I thought I'd polish up a new CH to welcome you all in the morning.

Bleary-eyed or no, come in and have a seat. There is plenty to eat & drink so stay as long as you'd like!

Thanks for the offer Merme---I could sure use a cup of coffee right about now--thanks. notme

Tina.--Sun has been up here for quite a bit---I finally gave in about 35 minutes ago and got up too.

On today's agenda is going to a ceramics show that is conveniently about 1 mile from Valarie's house. I am going to pick her up and take her with me. Sounds like a fun day all around.

I'll see all of you guys when I return. wavy

Well, I went out before first light and started my round of watering. I played ball with the dogs before daylight. They are pretty good.
And then I played tinker toys with my new resin shelving units. I got those popped together and now have a new/old potting area for starting seeds. Of course I am already altering the plan and planning on adding to it. But that will wait for down the line. I do need to repair the rain gutter above it there. The wind blew it down last year. And it is on the protected side of the house.
My son just had his breakfast.
Next......

Today is the first day I've slept in months! I didn't get up until 8:30, and only then because Dwight was edge trimming right outside the bedroom window rolz

Where is Jenn? I hope She and Hubby and Kids are okay, I haven't seen her here in a while why

When I visit Facebook, I see Jenn there, apparently very very busy!

Edge trimming, huh? And what inspired him to trim the verge first thing this morning? ;lol:

Max is off swimming & I'm doing easy chores while I'm waiting for my breakfast.

I am a morning person. So I want to get up, have a cup and get to work. But I also have to take advantage of the temperatures and what I can do around Ted's schedule.
I popped him in the car and ran down to town to do my rental house thing. We got back and he put in a video. That meant I had at least a half an hour or more to work right outside the door. So I began raking up more and making more piles. I am in to get another cup. Then I am going out to plant a few shrubs and a New Zealand tree fern.
I take long breaks during the heat of the day and maybe go back out to work in the evenings when I can. After the sun dips behind the mountains.

I am a morning person too,, But I feel so drained boohoo Last night when I was on here My eyes were burning I was so sleepy but my brain was still in go mode. That makes it hard to go to sleep.
I guess because I've had company the last 2 months and staying up late with them and getting up at 5 to go to work and entertaining when I got off work took a toll on this old body and I just wanted needed to sleep in.

I am very much a morning person, also, Diane. But sometimes my sleep schedule gets messed up, just like yours did. Then it is hard to get to sleep but I still have to get up anyway. After a long time of that, my body just insists SLEEP IN whether I'm actually planning to or not!!!

I typically go to bed at 2 AM and get up at 6 AM. That is usually just fine. But oh man dear, if something goes wrong and I don't get to sleep until 4 or 5... ay-yi-yi!!!

Getting up early is a farming tradition and since I come from a long line of farmers, we come by it honestly enough. It is what Tina said, I think, about getting chores done before the heat of the day.

In the winter I can still work out there but my daylight hours are shortened drastically. And fall and winter is our windy season. It takes your breath away.
I have all around my house completely raked up and weeded out now. (up close) It is almost time to start again. But I want to plant the shrubs and things before I begin the next project. They have been hanging around in their naked pots waiting on me to get that done.

same here,, Occasional snow and ice maybe but it only last a day if even that. I don't even know if the weather here qualifies for winter, we maybe have one month of temps below 32.
I hate that I get off work in November @ 5:30 and it's dark outside. boohoo it's depressing.

fall here doesn't really start until late october- End of Dec,, then cooler and colder in mid Jan to late feb,, It gets windy a little in Dec and Feb. Then spring brings the higher winds and wet storms.

Diane I think you'd dislike our winter weather in Maine! lol

When I was a kid, I remember my mom & g'ma being outside by 5 AM, weeding & watering and whatnot. I still love that time of day outdoors. But I dunno how much I'd like it if it was HOT that early! boohoo

Maxi took a walk to go see the girl from school he is sweet on. Well, they've been sweet on each other for a couple of years now and they chose each other for their first official dance in the spring of 07.

There is another girl he has also always been rather fond of as well but she is extremely tall -- her height has always been a difficulty for her. I remember when she was younger she wasn't allowed on some of the kiddie rides at the pier because although she was the right age, she was well over the height limits.

I told Maxi not to let her height stop him if he wants to spend time with her because they do like each other very well. He laughed when I told him he could always step up on the bottom stair if she was on the sidewalk & he wanted to kiss her goodnight some day!

it sounds like everyone survived the wild party last night.
I'll have to read back to hear just how crazy everything got after I logged off.

I was outside early weeding, not at 5am though. it was probably closer to 8. it was nice out, maybe mid 80's but no humidity.

Geez oh pete, Maxi is about as busy as he can be!

Breakfast at his friends house, then swimming, then home for lunch & he became a moderator on his game forum, then off on a walk to see the girl he likes best, then home to change & off swimming again! Oh, and in-between all of that, he & Dom made knightly armor out of boxes & wore it to another boy's house to challenge him to some jousting!! And it is only 3 PM.

I think the kids here are silly for how briefly they swim & how often they change clothes in a day.

It may have to do with our weather, but when I was a kid we didn't take our suits off until Mom said we HAD to! We'd be in and out of the pool all day and just run around to dry off.

These kids swim for a bit, get out, get dried, change clothes and do it all over again when they want to swim again.

why

Cricket 8 AM is a good time for weeding if it isn't 9,000 degrees in the shade where you live at that hour! lol

It's not so much the heat at 9,000 degrees, as it is the humidity. lol

maybe some of those kids around there that change cloths so many times a day should be washing their own cloths during summer vacation. I have mine do that and I have to watch them closely to make sure they don't put back on the same cloths they wore the day before after they'vd showered! lol

Maxi does laundry year 'round, Cricket, for both of us, not just himself.

I just don't get why they don't wanna run around wet until they dry off, but Maxi says the air can get too cold. ? Since I didn't grow up in Maine, I dunno. But I do know there've been July & August days we've about frozen on the beach, so maybe that really is why they don't have the habit of hanging out in wet suits?

And ohmygoodness, Cricket, I'm with you.... I HATE humidity!!!!!!

good for maxi - doing his and your laundry year round. I grew up like that, too. growing up with a disabled mother I did all laundry and all cooking by the time I was maxi's age...(along with other household duties.) I'm kinda a softy though once school starts. I do thier laundry but they have to put things away.

Idk, merme if it's really the cold and being wet? could be! but my kids are the same way with wanting to dry off after getting out of the pool or playing with the water hose. 'can you get us a towel?' I ask 'are you going in the house?' 'No, but were all WET'! haha they say it like I'm some kind of crazy lady for understanding WET. bizzare! I tell them stand in the sun...go play. I get the rolling of the eyes. haha

Good morning again. I was out working a lot today. I came in for something to eat and chatted on line with a friend for a few. When I went to get up my feet and knees told me I had done enough. They nearly froze up on me. So it was time for some aspirin and a stretch. I did a good job of stretching. I almost feel like going out to work some more.

Good Night Carol , and Cricket if you've decided to go on to bed,, and Tina I wish I listened to my body telling me to quit for the day. Once I get motivated there is no stopping me until I'm done and I suffer for it later. Glad the stretches did you good! I stretch now every morning and after every hot bath and shower. My left knee has some kind of problem with it and it's getting worse,, to look at it it looks fine,, but it feels like (for lack of a better description), like old material that is deteriorating and ripping right under the skin, every time I bend it more then slightly, Weirdest feeling in the world.

Yes, it sounds like a knee problem for sure, Diane. I do have arthritis. That feels like 'old elastic' giving out under there sometimes.
Oh, and when I stretch, I mean I stretch out horizontal, sometimes to nap like I did today. lol
My real exercise is gardening on hillsides and cliff sides.

I used to always *so it's a habit now* get on my bed using one knee first. OMG the first time I did that a few weeks ago was the first time I felt that ripping feeling along with a Quick feeling of electrical shock,, shock I'm telling ya it was the weirdest sensation of pain well not quite pain just felt like a shock then ripping I've ever experienced.
Now I really 'baby' it and have to think twice before I get on the bed or in the car,, or anything that requires me to bend it naturally.
It also has a thick numbing feeling on the surface almost like I have been given a swab of a topical anesthetic.
Hopefully Nurse Sheri will read this and advice me of what it could be. I don't know what to expect with arthritis so I have nothing to go on as far as pain? why

Ohhhhhhhhhn lol I can deal with that kind of stretching quit easily too haha

I am still not interested in Facebook. I kept in contact with most of my friends or re-established contact with ones that I lost for the most part. I am not fond of their policies regarding photo ownership. (if you post it there, even in a private account, they can use it any where or how they want). So I haven't even really checked it out.
Good morning. I haven't done squat today. It is a slow starter day for me. But that is OK. I will get something done today. I have awesome weather for it again.

No more planting for me today. Unless I get my other stuff done and have time and energy. I have laid out all of my tools, components and parts to repair my broken water line one more time. I really, really want to get water back to the affected area. Not for the plants nearly as much as for the fire hazard down the line. If things are well watered they don't catch fire as easily. And this is the area smack dab up against the national forest land that is not maintained at all.
Then I have acres to rake and clean still.

John did that to a friend. We were driving by and he honked. More to say hello than to be rude. She jumped up so fast her lounge chair nearly flipped. He had to stop and apologize. We laughed about it later because it was darned funny. But when people are wearing sunglasses you don't know if they are awake or not. I rarely honk my horn any time. Here on the ranches it is saved for emergencies, like a fire headed our way.
We have had a few close calls with fires here. One ('03)blistered the paint on the back of my house and burned up a bridge over my little creek behind the house. As well as a few trees and such. The firefighters (hot shots) did a fabulous job of saving our house. That one took out almost 900 homes and a few other structures. We could hear propane tanks exploding all over the place. We have had one more close call since but not quite as close.

I just KNEW Cindy was going to say that! haha touched

When we lived in the foothills in Reno, our townhouse was dangerously close to a forest fire that came burning down the mountain. nervous I was very pregnant with Brian then, and Don was working out in the field for a few weeks, so I had a friend come over and help me load my car with keepsakes just in case. The only thing I had to grab last minute was our parakeet cage if need be. Thankfully they were able to stop it just up the road from our building. VERY SCARY STUFF!

I don't envy you, Tina, or anyone else living close to areas that can burn like that - please be careful! kissie

I am being as careful as I can. And cleaning up the fire fuel as much as I can.
I repaired the broken water line leading to that area for the third time.. I gave it plenty of time to cure and then held my breath when I turned it on. So far, so good. It is holding without a single drip. I followed it all the way to the end of the line (where I had the tap turned on to clear any yucky stuff out of the line) and I was there when the water reached it and started coming out. We don't have much pressure here and I am fine with that as long as I can get water where I need it. I wouldn't even try pressurizing what we have because it couldn't take it. I'd have blown pipes and joints all over the place.

My water line is holding. I'm going to fill in the 12 ft trench I had to dig up again. I will be doing something to protect that shallow pipe from something breaking it again too easily. I may just lay a lot of 2X6's across it in a patio/deck effect. Or rather extend that effect we already have right next to it. It also makes it easier to clean up and fewer weeds grow. The boards would rot eventually but they will hold up at least 4 years. And I can get more from my friend. Then I can park my small wood splitter back on there for use. I have a few cords right there to split.
I am showered and getting droopy eyed. I am going to call it for the day. Good night all.

Good morning, Cindy. Good morning everyone. I am awake and waiting for the sun to catch up.
