So far I have had no problems with bugs this year but now I see that my small second/late corn crop is attracting for the first time these 1/4" long bugs. They're yellow on top some are yellow/greenish (more mature?)on the bottom with nine to 12 black dots on top. They look like lg. black ants but these are NOT ants at all. I find them inside of the young corn plants (12-14" tall)and they fly out if you try to introduce yourself. I've been using liquid spray like Malathion every three days or so right inside but that's not working as they come back the next day. The leaves are starting to get light spots as they grow out from the center. This is the first time I try to grow corn this late and I think it will be my last.
If anyone can I.D the bug and know what to use to keep them out please let us know. Thank you.

I am not any where near a bug expert. But when I want an ID I go here:
