That is a familiar bird to me here, Thorny. I think they are here year round? It is a singing little bird, isn't it. You got a very nice shot of it.

Yes, they make a rapid chattering chipping noise, hence, the name Chipping Sparrow. and they DO tend to stay year-round in Southern California.
