Has anyone grown a member of the melon family called the vine peach? The info I have differs as to whether it's native to N. America or an asian import. A few seed suppliers still them as a novelty, but specifics are scarce. The fruit is supposed to be about the size of a peach, but taste more like a mango. If anyone has experience with this I'd like your input before I commit any of my miniscule garden space to it next spring. Thanks.

Mango Melon or Vine Peach
The 3" fruit are the size of a peach, with a yellow rind and bland white flesh. This variety was very popular in Victorian times for making sweet pickles, pies and preserves. They were developed in China and introduced into America in the 1880's. In the Orient this type of melon is pickled.
