I needed a stress buster, and when I got a coupon in an email from the Home Depot gardening club (they had only a few this year compared to last summer!) for 50% off an orchid, I went to see what they had. I also had a coupon for signing my mom up for the club on her email address. Since she doesn't take care of plants, I used hers as well! thumbup

As usual, Home Depot had a cart full of plants not well taken care of. And NONE of them had tags identifying which orchids they were of course! rolz I picked through all of the pots and chose what I thought was the best one for my first, this time around. I have tried to grow a few before, but wasn't very successful. This time I am armed with much more information so I hope we do better all around.

I searched online and believe this one is called Kaleidoscope

That is beautiful, Lynne. I hope it does well for you.
I am an orchid murderer. I have tried and probably will again. I would also have taken advantage of a great deal like that.

Three days later, REALLY needing a stress buster, I went to another Home Depot yesterday. Picked through all the pots once again, and came home with this one. I cannot ID it online yet though. Does anyone know which one it is, or a good website to find it - I've searched and searched for hours but haven't found it yet. Both of them are Phalaenopsis types.

The differences in the types/names can be very very subtle.

Thanks Tina - I could not pass up the opportunity to get a gorgeous orchid plant for only $7.99 - that is unheard of around here!

That is a good deal. They can be very pricey. And yours is very pretty too.
