Hello,

I would like someone to help me with identifying a couple of houseplants. I have taken some pictures and I hope the pictures are clear and I can get them to load correctly. The green one looks like it's in the Fern family and I call the purple one my "Helicopter" plant because the leaves look like propellers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

I am so houseplant challenged. I look, I enjoy but tend to kill them off if I try them. But I love the looks of yours and they do look healthy. I hope someone can come along and help you ID them soon.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get some help too! I have grown to love gardening. I would purchase plants that were marked down and looked to be near death. Those plants rarely come with id tags, so I have nursed these two plants back to health and I can't bear the thought of killing them trying to repot them. I have one window that faces the west, so it's the perfect light. Hopefully, help is coming soon.

I wish that the pics had been taken from a little distance too with something for scale, like a chair or something so you can see the size and growth pattern.
The first looks like a croton to me a little but hard to tell.

Your photography skills were just fine. Sometimes seeing the complete plant as well as closeups of leaves and any blooms is a more complete picture towards ID.

Hello! The first plants look very much like my silver lace ferns; the others I'm not too sure, but try croton, or possibly cordyline family.

Thanks! After reading your email I began looking at the Pteris species and found that my fern is actually a Table Fern. I feel so much better about transplanting it now. Whew! Thank you very much!!! You were the only person who was able to tell me what my plant is!

You're quite welcome! Did you find out what the other plants were? From what I can see, I'm thinking cordyline.I haven't personally seen any of that color, but there are several varieties.

As far as I can tell its closely resembles a Banana Croton. the color is off but the leave is very similiar. I havent been able to track down the variety yet but Im still working on it.

Here's more pictures of the unknwon plant. The leaf has some of the same characteristics of a Banana Croton but this plants have leaves that either look green or burgundy, depending on the light. I hope these are much better pictures. One of the closeups shows the leaf division. Some of the leaves split but are connected with what appears to be a short stem.
