Due to the rare, bizarre freeze here in coastal california, my 40 foot rubbert plant/ficus elastica has quite a bit of peripheral freeze burn. I am unsure how much to prune...it has been in this yard since this house was built in 1954, and is HUGE. I would hate to do anything to damage it more. Any suggestions? jetslo

welcome to our shiny-new forum!!

your question would best be answered in the //www.agardenersforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/6 i'm sure one of the hostesses will be along and move it over there for you.

could i suggest you post a picture of the tree as well as some close-ups of the damage? that would help in giving suggestions on how much, if any, pruning should be done!

I'm gonna move this post to the shrubs and trees forum..

But I have a question??

I've only seen these as indoor plants!!!!

Here's also some information from Bill's main pages here

just prune off the damage. you won't hurt the tree, and actually, the pruning will promote brancing.
