has anyone ever tasted one? I heard they're delicious, sort of like a mix of tropical fruit but smooth like custard. They're a rare tree here, but i've found some around with fruit. I check two days ago, but the fruits were still quite hard. I've heard from the biologist here that it's a battle every year between man and squirrel i want to try but wasn't sure if it's worth the effort to 'battle it out'

I have never had one. I've been told they are delicious as well. Kind of sticky, mushy mild banana flavored.

I ate a pawpaw once as a child, and in my memory, it was better than a banana. They're only just having limited success with fruit that will keep long enough to market, the ripe stage goes to rotten in only a few days. I've heard it described as like a mango/banana cross, or exotic custard. It should be a very exotic treat.
