Happy 14th to Maxi. It is a new age group altogether for so many kids. I would be quite stumped too.
They seem to want expensive gifts at that age. It isn't always in the budget. And Sheri is right, most are in between ages for some of the fun stuff.

He is actually having a laser tag party up at the big indoor play space in town. I've arranged for them to play for an hour, have pizza, and then they can spend some time on the arcade games... the kind you sit in and drive.

Tina my biggest problem with Maxi is that he doesn't want anything in particular! On the one hand it is good -- to have such a satisfied kid -- on the other hand, it is tough to come up with ideas! Still, I think I'd rather have him satisfied w/ his needs met and hard pressed to come up with ideas than to have nine million things he needs/wants and have to narrow it down to only one! lol

Even worse, his aunts have been calling to ask what he wants. "Uh.... um, ... your guess is as good as mine?" why

Hi Merme,
That is a hard age to get stuff for- still young enough for fun things but to old to really want it for long.... they do seem to grow up way to fast- I remember when he was 3 for goodness sake!
I have been packing Mom's stuff today, after my sis came over and we scanned and sent back her lease agreement after they signed it... of coures my scanner dicided to act up and I had to unplug and plug it back in to make it work twice... 14 pages of stuff... but it is done and gone back. She is sick too so had to disinfect my puter and desk when she left... had to do the rest of the house too cause the boys all have or had strep too- they were here all day . can't go to school till tomorrow if no one has a fever tonit- they we fine today so hope they can go back tomorrow- Jon's doc appt went okay- they gave him a shot of cortisone for his leg- and sent him to a rhuemologist .. hopeing it is something they can treat for his sake--- he is walking with a cane now... very hard on a guy who loves to play and roughhouse with the boys..
I still have a few more things to pack up for Mom in the basement- books and pictures... got the rest done- she really doesn't have that much stuff anymore... going to do that tonight after dinner and then hit my bed I am worn out...
Well off to cut up some onion for chile dogs- last ones for awhile- going to start watching what we eat next week....

I already have family asking what to get my kids for the coming holidays. I just don't know. I need to research it. I do direct them to ask Jonni what she wants.

nana, i asked up in prayers before i read down here that jon is going to a rheumatologist. i have one thing to say about that. if he isn't happy with the first one he sees, go to another one. i had to do that before i got any answers or any relief. the first one patted my hand and said "we know the pain isn't ALL in your head"

i never went back. but that was after wasting 6 months on that jerk. the current one is much better. and i do have a lot more relief. some days i almost feel normal.

yes Nana I am glad to hear some positive stuff about Jon. I hope he continues to improve so he can get back to being the person he wants to--at least part of the time.

Jiffy, I am so glad that you have some really good days now----I applaud your finding the right "doctors"

Good night everyone. I'm a little sore from abusing my body today. But it is a good sore and the kinks will work out with sleep.

Johnny got a another text and the painter isn't coming until 6:00 PM tonight. Johnny called him and got a message back to text him. This guy is nuts. He is the one that started texting us but then one day he told me not to text him anymore because he hates to text BUT he never answers his phone. If we call and leave a message he will text us an answer. Anyway Johnny left him a message reminding him that we aren't a side job and got the message back to "text me". So Johnny text him what he had left as a verbal message and his reply, via text, is "yea but you guys are out further than some of these other people so I do the close ones first." So Johnny text him to finish tonight no matter how long it takes and so far hasn't gotten a response.

stop running. Walk slowly and look both ways.

And we found out that this guy really does work for someone. He told me right to my face that he is a master carpenter and works for himself but can do painting and handy man stuff too. Johnny did a little checking today and found out that he works for a painting company. If he had told me this up front it would have been ok. I wouldn't have been expecting him all the time.

Lots of sick students today. Fevers 101.7 and such.

And I am sorry the guy was a flake as well. I am wondering if he showed up to finish up tonight.
Sheri, did you get flu shots?
I finally got outside and got some work done. Leaves are falling off the trees faster than I can keep on top of them. And I need to clean my gutters again. But I planted 30 delphiniums tonight and they are being watered in. I hope they grow for me. I gave them the very best conditions to do so. I have 6 more to put somewhere else.

Rod and I got our regular flu shots tonight.--our pharmacy gives them thank the Lord (No it is not Walgreens---it is a small family owned chain)

I am considering getting a pneumonia shot---and the H1N1 shot as well.

But I am not positive yet...it is just that I have had pneumonia 2 times in the first 3 operations and then got walking pneumonia right before I got the compression fracture. I just think that might be a good idea ya know???

I know I just popped on here but my internet provider did an upgrade last night late and as usual today I was not on the internet---after many hours of waiting and then calling the service---they finally removed all of my network connections & re-sent me the connection---or something----anyway I finally got my internet back--

I think I need to go to sleep now though,--good night all

Good morning everybody ~

Another overly busy day underway here in our household. We got up and poor Maxi started his day off with a bang -- he tore his toe nail on his bedroom door and we had to bandage it up. Yikes!

But I'm tickled pink he had a GREAT night's sleep on his new bedding I got him for his birthday & gave early. He got two new pillows, a beautiful comforter in two shades of red wide stripes with coordinating pillow cases in white w/ the same red color pinstripes.... reminds me of baseball. He said he was as snug as could be & didn't want to get up this morning!

I know how he feels.

Getting up is sometimes the hardest thing to do in a day.

Good morning. I'm getting a little late start but that only means I have to move a little faster. I won't be late for anything.

OUCH! I'll bet Maxi's toe will be sore this afternoon. I didn't want to get up this morning either. As a matter of fact, I didn't get up on time and was an hour late for work.

30 delphiniums and more to go Tina. That's going to be a nice show.

No, I haven't gotten the flu shot and didn't get it last year either.

Yes, the painter did come. We went to Charlotte yesterday afternoon so I suppose he showed up at 6:oo PM, which is when he said he would. He texted Johnny around 8:30 asking "where are you and what's for dinner." Johnny answered him saying we were at his daugthers and was he finished. He texted back that he'd done some "cutting in" and that his job for the rest of the week has been cancelled so he'll be back today. We're talking about my laundry room for Pete's sake - a small room - which he told me would take less than an hour to finish. When we got home he was gone, thank God, and all I can tell he's done is put down some tape around the baseboard and fix a rough area on the wall with what may be sheet rock stuff (not actually sure what he's got on it). I sure hope he finishes today. I don't want to see him because I don't want to get in an argument and I'm sure I will.

Johnny thinks since his work is cancelled for the week he wants to talk about starting the other jobs we had talked to him about before we found out how he really acts. I don't want to work with him anymore. There's someone out there who is as good as he is and will show up when he or she says.

Good Morning everyone.

Merme, thanks for the input...

Maxi's gift sounds really nice-- it sounds like he was really pleased with it. That is always a good feeling.--Sorry to hear about his toe--and I guess he has to wear "real" shoes today huh??? I hope he feels better soon.

Tina, I hope you catch up with your day soon--how is the cold coming---for both you and Ted?? I hope it is soon gone.
Sheri, I hope this guy finishes up soon with his work--and yes I think I would consider finding someoen else too...and as I said before, I hope it all works out for you.
