Nana is fine- weather wise- it's cold and we may get more snow soon but I am staying inside now... till and when I feel better.... I don't think I've been outside since I went to the doctor... 2weeks ago? been sleeping most of the time since.. Nana
Nana, I am glad you are taking care of yourself. Ted's flu made him and still is making him sleep a lot. The news did say tonight that most of the flu going in SoCal right now is swine flu. So I'm going to assume it is.

Nana, I hope all is back to normal for you and yours soon.
Tina, I hope that you do not get sick... Is what you had a cold or could it have been a slight case of the flu??? Could Jonni take care of you and Ted if need be???

Yes, Nana, you have been ohsovery sick indeed. I am glad you are at least beginning to recover after what you've been through!! Keep sleeping! We'll still be praying for you and waiting for you to be back with us 100%. I miss you, my friend.
It is very humid here tonight from the storms in the area. This weekend is supposed to be nice.... I hope so.
My back can't take any more of this wheelchair at all, so I'm off again for now but will try to check in again later.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Maxi finally got himself to bed. I had some time out of my chair and now I feel much better! I had to leave dialysis an hour early because my back was so bad today.
The good news is that after waiting since August, I have an appointment with wheel chair clinic on November 5th. The doc there will figure out how to change the seat of my chair to help my back. They think the seat I have now is causing most of the troubles. It's been a long wait, but I'm really enthused about how helpful it will be!!
I don't wanna but tomorrow I have to clean.
Anybody still up?

I have always thought Friday night was a lousy night for TV. So I gave up trying to find something and put on our DVD of Les Miserables. It is WONDERFUL no matter how often we play it!
And we do play it alot!
My girl who is 100% Country Music has heard this DVD so often herself while here that she loves it also now! She said she even dreamed of it one night! Been there, done that!

I have never seen, heard or read Les Miserables. I guess I am misisng something, huh???
There is not much on TYV on Fridays but Rod had this show about ammunition he wanted to eatch--and then we watched one of my "Nero Wolfe" DVD's. I have just about all of them memorized---and yes I do own both seasons shows.

HI all, I had my dinner- a pot pie... chicken.... was just enough and now I've had a shower... put clean jammies on - I am living in jammies... in bed with my laptop... got the vaporizer going and the ceiling fan cause it makes it so very warm in here... I hope they find a solution for your wheelchair seat Merme-- having a hurting back is no fun at all... Now I watched Ghost Whisperer, medium and Numbers too tonigth- and recorded a few more to watch tomorrow... but then I watch a lot of tv I guess... course I can't do much else right now- if I talk I cough- if I move around I cough... sitting still is getting really old though.... Well it's time for me to hit the pillow- my meds are taking effect... I so want to wake up feeling better... thanks for prayers.... they help and so does this wonderful place Bill has made for us... helps me stay sane in my little world here. Nana
I like Nero Wolf also. Haven't seen an episode in a very long time, though!
Nana, I do so hope you begin feeling a bit better and a little stronger each day. If you have any sunlight in your town at all, try to get some of it! Even if you have to bundle up, try to get some basking time in.
I'm going to shut the pc down for tonight. I want to read for an hour before I go to bed and I really shouldn't be up beyond 2 AM. Maxi will want me first thing in the morning!
Safe away home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all.

nana I hope that youy feel much better tomorrow.

Yes, I too do not know what I would have done if it were not for this lovely place while I was recovering from all 4 of my surgeries and then from my compression fracture & my broken arm. And that is not even counting all that I have learned about gardening, birds, and the computer on the forum...And then there are the wonderful friends that I have made here....
Bill, you are a fantastic person, I appreciate all of your hard work, and I thank you so very much.
good night, Merme-----

I grew up on Nero wolf books. Loved Rex Stout. We had a house full of books and I think I read them all. I am coming in to say good night. I got lost playing games again. I will probably get up before the sun does in the morning.

I slept in a bit this morning and I woke up to find it is a GREAT day in the neighborhood! A great day.
As I said in the Shout Box, Maxi's iPod works today after its sad trip through the washing machine yesterday. Boy, were we upset it ever took that wet journey! But today it charged and is playing. YAY!!!! YAY!!!!!
The coffee is fine, my bills are paid, my kid is happy.
Who could ask for more?

You are very welcome for the reminder. I could never get into instant coffee too much. Today for me is more rake, water and plant. All of the plants and bulbs I ordered are spilling in faster than I can deal with them. Then maybe dig if I get the umph. I want a new raised bed finished last week. It got put back due to flu.

wow that is great,, I'm happy to hear the Ipod dries without wrinkles wash and wear hear Sounds like you're having a great start to your weekend
I've got bacon frying,, biscuits in the oven and coffee brewing, I love that smell of all three of those combined on a cool saturday morning!

Ohmygoodness, Di, you made Maxi & I laugh so hard with that one!
Carol, I can not take credit for my "good outlook" on life. I think it was a gift of God on me at my birth. My sister Penny was 12 when I was born and later in life she told me something about my babyhood. She said whenever I'd been sleeping and would wake up in my crib, I'd pull myself up into a stand, lean on the rail, clap my hands and call out "Hip Dee! Hip Dee!" which apparently was my baby talk version of "Happy Day! Happy Day!" She said that's how they'd know the baby was awake because I'd be clapping and calling about the happy day.
So see? It has nothing to do with me.
Hey! I'm glad you had coffee singles stashed. Because our weather can be so foul here, I always try to keep a pantry stash of useful items particularly when we start getting symptoms of autumn.
I don't mind instant coffee as long as I think of it as a "hot drink" and not as "coffee". To me, it is a drink unto itself. If I try to make believe it is replacement coffee I can't drink it.
I also try to keep powdered milk and/or boxed or canned milk on hand, just because.
Few things in life are as upsetting as getting up in the morning without coffee on hand or milk to put in it! I'm delighted you were all set!
Diane, I'll have some of that bacon & biscuit feast you are cooking up.
Tina ~ One of Maxi's school fund raisers this year was flower bulbs. He ordered four orders to give as gifts... for his two aunts and our dear friend in CT. He did real well matching flowers to their garden styles. But the bulbs won't arrive until the end of October. Hopefully everyone will get them in the ground quickly!!

Good morning! Everyone seems chipper here today - anyone have a bit of extra energy they could share with me?
My son came home from his evening out just after 4 this morning, and of course the area lawn mowers were at it bright and early. Jeeeze... one would think that with them going ALL day EVERY day, the lawns would be finished by a certain day of the week, right? Thank goodness the season is almost over.
Speaking of that... my husband just said to me, to let him know which heavy/large plant pots I would like him to bring inside for the winter. HUH? I am so not ready for that - I'm still waiting for summer to get here!!! But really - I think the plants have a couple more weeks to get some fresh air before they need to be brought in, and eaten by a cat or two , don't you?
Merme - I am very glad that Maxi's IPOD is squeaky clean and musical again! We were not so lucky with Amy's - had to have hers repaired just before college began again this year at the lovely cost of $75. About $50 of that was for the shop to be licensed by Apple to be able to make the repairs!!!
I've been working on another knit sundress for an unknown baby girl this past week or so. I've needed to make something, had nothing in mind, and wanted a small project to go slowly on with my tendonitis still rearing it's painful head on and off. I'm almost done with the second side - then all I have to do is sew 'er up and add buttons and some embroidered daisies on the front. Thanks again, Carol, for sending me that pretty lilac colored yarn - it's such a nice color!
You all are making me hungary with your cooking already today - what shall I have for brunch? Cereal with banananananana cut into it? Blueberry bagel with butter and yogurt on the side? Cantaloupe with cottage cheese???
All your breakfast ideas sound WONDERFUL, Lynne! I would have SUCH a hard time deciding from those options!!!
Sorry about Amy's iPod I wouldda have cried my heart out over that!
My friend the psychiatrist dropped his cell phone/camera in the toilet and he was so unhappy to learn that electronics and toilet water don't mix. I was scared to death that electronics and washer water don't mix either.
Your sundress project sounds lovely. lilac can be such a nice color.
I gotta go because my son wants to play his game (talk to his friends online) while listening to the Les Miserables DVD.

I hope you have a few weeks left for the outdoor plants, I know it's a task preparing for placement inside. It is really cool here for this time of year,, raining and cool,, usually it's still in the 70's and 80's in oct its around 55 yesterday and today,,
I will be leaving for KS,, on Thursday,, My Mother turned 80 yesterday, but I couldn't get off work to drive "home". Jayhawk will drive to Ks and meet me there. We plan to take Mom shopping she has lost so much weight and still wears the same size clothes, but insist they still fit . I think it's more a comfort thing
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
merme, I got so caught up on telling you that you had a good outlook on life that, that i neglected to say how happy I was that I was happy for you about Maxi's iPod surviving its 'cleansing'..
Lynne=---I agree with Merme, ALL of your breakfast ideas sound wonderful.--any one would be a treat. Sorry you did not get much sleep, let us hope that you are able to get a nap today.
I forgot to mention the bring in the plants thing---I myself only have 2 or 3 to bring in--and I think I MAY wait a bit----I will say though we were supposed to gave a frost last night, so perhpas things are going to move along early this year......
Diane you r breakfast sounds lovely too---I think if you offered me some bacon and a biscut or 2 you would NOT get turned down.
You trip sounds like a good thing- I wish you a wonderful time.

Morning all, Yay for Maxi's Ipod making it thru the wash - glad it still works.... the trouble with them is they are so little it's easy to be missed in a pocket...
I woke up to clouds and that dreaded white cold stuff on the ground... just a couple inches or so, it is cold only 19* right now... got it cozy warm in the house though ... I did open up all the curtains so it is light in the house... does help me feel better to have some natural light...
I am really glad we got our bulbs planted before we got sick.. spring will be nice with the color... gives me something to look forward too...
I do feel some better today... breathing is a little easier, going to get a little laundry done.. running out of pj's again... Have a good day ! Nana
I hope you have a good and uneventful trip Diane - I know you are very excited to be going! I know just what you mean about taking your mom clothes shopping - my mom also lost a lot of weight the past few years due to illnesses, and my dad doesn't enjoy taking her shopping, so I try and buy her clothes when I can. Just the other day I bought her a plum colored wool cardigan to wear with the amethyst necklace I made for her last year. It's very lightweight so she can wear it on cooler days down in Florida when they winter there.
Sorry you are having cooler weather - we are about 60* now, but it's very windy and overcast. It rained most of the night, which is ok with me - I breathe so much better when there is a bit of humidity in the air.
I've got my nose in a book, unfortunately! When that happens, I barely get anything else done!
But Maxi went down the street to see the girl he is sweet on, so I'm on my own for a little bit.
We have high wind and rain storms in the area so he is taking advantage of a dry spot to walk over.
We did get the laundry finished, though, and the kitchen and bathroom floors swept.
I can be SUCH a little mess maker! That Devil's Food cake I made last night caused me to leave a trail of chocolate crumbs all over the kitchen... AND bathroom! I apparently had a lap full of crumbs I was unaware of until I stood up in the bathroom and they all fell to the floor! Whoever heard of a million chocolate cake crumbs in the bathroom?!
I'm just in a lazy mode today, I think.

Looks like I chose the wrong time to go out to lunch and paint some stuff outdoors. I am still trying to get back up to speed. (reading all the posts about pertinent "things".
I painted the mail box/post and Pod painted the wood trim around the front door and then the back garage door and that trim. I then touched up a few places on the back and cleaned up after it all. it is nice to have all of that done.

Merme - I hope you didn't get ants from all the crumbs? Devil's food cake sounds soooooooooo good to me right now!!!
Carol - sounds like you got a lot accomplished - was it a nice day for you to be outside doing that? I went out for a little bit when I got the mail and fed the fish - though it was cool out today, the sun felt very good on my back while I sat on the bench by the pond watching the fish eat. It will be very soon that I stop feeding the fish for winter - they go into hibernation once the water temperature gets to 50*.
I wish the sun would come out here I've longed for the rain the brugs are doing great,, I even have a pink double delight that has bloomed again,, but it's still gray and cool and raining off and On it;s been raining off and on for two weeks I'm ready for the rays of the sun,, come out come out where ever you are,!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
So sorry Diane - it seems like you are having a fall like we had for summer - though we've had our share of gloomy rainy days lately too. The sun was only out for that short bit of time that I went outside.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day - in the high 60's and sunny. There is a street fair on the other side of the county that I'd like to go to tomorrow, but don't have anyone to go with - it's so much more fun to go with a friend.
Dinner is here - Don brought in pizza - cya all later.
