teach FYI, something else you can try the next time an ipod, cell phone, etc. gets dropped into the toilet, washed, kid tries to clean the screen under running water, put your device into air tight container full of dry rice. The idea is that the rice will absorb all moisture and suck it right out of your device, leaving it ready to be used once again.

wavy Hi everyone!

Wish I remembered that when I dropped my former cell phone into a glass of water 2 years ago. Thanks for the reminder!

Keep in mind, rice will dry out the device but there still may be permanent damage to the lcd, which rice can't fix. We had an incident where Mandy's iphone got dropped in ocean water and Aros was looking online to see if there was anything that could be done to fix it. He discovered the rice thing on the internet. Lots of people were reporting that it worked. We haven't actually tried it ourselves though. Mandy's phone was not eligible for upgrade so a replacement would have been way too much for us to pay for. Luckily, we found out that apple has a plan in place for such disasters and we were able to get her a new phone.

Carol - sounds like you got a lot accomplished - was it a nice day for you to be outside doing that?
_______________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________

Thanks, Lynne. While I do not think we accomplished a LOT we did do waht we set out to do, and with paint left over too!!!

It was a beautiful Day!!! Not real warm---it was supposed to get up to 61--but I think it only made it to the mid 50's. But is was sunny with no wind, so it was the perfect day to paint. Everything dried to the touch in like 20 minutes so it was in good shape for the night. It is still 50 here now, and i t can get down to 35 before we have any concerns about the paint not drying .

Ladies & gentlemen----I just had a BATH!!! I love taking a bath. clap bop

Have I ever said how much I hate showers??? well I do--but what with not being able to bend and twist now, a shower is how I get to wash my hair. Not to mention it is very hard for me to get up and down these days...

at any rate--I am sooo happy....

They make THE BEST bath bombs known to mankind. They are hand-made and organic and smell wonderfully. I don't recommend the glittery ones though. Aros, being a plumber, got mad at me for getting one of those and I had to clean out the bath tub after which was not fun.

I just looked up locations, looks like the closest one to you is in Oak Brook Center mall. I'm pretty sure you could buy online as well.

No, but they would carry stuff like it. I guess some Macy's locations carry that brand and then they have a few of their own retail stores too.

No problem! Hope you love their products as much as I do. I get really serious with my baths. Smells, candles, pillow, I even have a bath caddy that holds a small candle, a book, and a wine glass. I also have a rubber ducky that's leopard print and has devil horns.

And I am coming in to say good night as well. I have had a headache most of the day. Then out digging added some muscle aches. So aspirin and bed is in my near future.

Good morning. It got frosty cold last night. We almost broke another temperature record. I don't want to get out of bed but I have to work today so I better get up and go make some coffee. I'm hungry already too.

'morning Cheryl!

I'm having a cold leftover slice of pizza for breakfast now, and then need to go get dressed. I'm going to spend the day at my parents' - one of mom's longest and dearest friends passed away last Wednesday, and I think mom needs the company today. It's a 40 minute drive to their house, and on Sundays the thruway usually backs up pretty badly from everyone returning to NYC from the mountains, so I need to get going before the back-up starts.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I am amazed that Maxi's Ipod made it through the wash. Johnny has ruined many a phone in the washing machine or dropping them down a man hole.

Why are some of you having such cold already. Is it time. It seems too early to me.

My grandchildren, Aubry and Colby, who are in the video were taken to the doc today and mom was told they probably have H1N1. Colby has had a cough for 2 weeks that isn't horrible but just won't go away, now a sore throat and a fever.

Sounds about right, Sheri. I hope they recover quickly.
Ted is finally bouncing back. Appetite is improved. But it is a nasty little sleepy thing that goes on with this flu.

Oh and we are definitely having unseasonably cool weather for us. And an unheard of October rain. I think El Nino is affecting us all already. Our expected rain is actually from the typhoon that hit Japan last week.

Sheri,
Hope the kids get thru this okay- fever and cough lasts awhile- lots of liquids and Tina is right- sleep ... I have been awake daytimes for 2 days now, a record for me this last couple weeks...
We are cloudy and clold still, no more snow but it looks like it could blizzard if it wanted too...30* right now... hubby just went to store cause he is bored ... he wanted me to go on a look at the leaves ride but I just don't want to get out there and get cold again.... don't want a setback for sure-
Well I am going to go get my swiffer and dust down the walls in my office, took down the curtains so I could wash themt too... that will be my big accomplishment of the day I think... so much I want to get done- sure wish my energy would come back from whereever it is hiding out.

Hi everyone ~

Nana I'm glad to know you are at last able to be up but I'm so concerned that you tend to Over Do It! Please take care until you are 100%.

Today we held Maxi's Birthday Party (finally!) More people showed up than I was expecting so it was a little excited but it all turned out well. We had three boys (14,13, & 7) plus one older teen (18) to play the games. And then we had three adults to arrange and supervise.

Normally the indoor play space where we went only allows one 10 minute game of laser tag every half an hour. But because we wanted to play 40 minutes total, they decided to let us play two 10 minute games, then take a long break, then play another set of two 10 minute games.

The four boys were psyched!!! The first game, Maxi got the lowest score. The second set, he got the highest! His dad went in the darkened laser tag area and took pictures which turned out very well. I couldn't go there because it was up a very long staircase. I hope I get some copies of those photos.

I also got tokens so that during the break and after it was all over, the boys could play the arcade games & win tickets to turn in for prizes. The 22 year old (big sister of the 18 year old AND our driver for the day) played arcade games, won lots of tickets and divided them up among the three youngest boys. That was very nice of her.

I bought pizzas, fries and drinks which we ate during the break. Surprisingly enough, the pizzas were really good! Everyone ate well.

Maxi has said about 100 times since we got home what a fun day he had! I am so glad!!

When we got back, his friend Dom stayed for a few hours and they played Bananagrams & cards while I took a nap. Man, I really needed that nap!

So the kid is now 14 and has been celebrated. YAY!!!

Merme

I'm glad Maxi had a fun day. You're a brave woman to go to sleep with 2 14 year old boys, or should I say young men, in the house lol

Glad everyone is feeling better. Colby, who is 6, felt so bad this morning he told his mother he needed to go to the doctor and during the night the baby had a temp of 104.0 and was screaming bloody murder. Sometimes it's hard to be a mom.

Oh Sheri,
I feel for your little ones... I know just how they feel-.... our boys asked to go to the doc too when they were sickest so kids just know they need help.... we went thru lots of popsicles to help the sore throats....
Maxi's party sounds like fun.... sure hope you get copies of the pics so we can see too... so glad he got to celebrate with his friends...
Believe me I am taking it slow and easy- I am at about 1/4 speed of what I normally do... Joe is doing the cooking and cleaning up of the kitchen- I did so bedding today and washed the curtains too... that was my big accomplishment for the day..
That and staying awake is always good too-
Nana

Cheryl,
Both of the above mentioned stores are in Missouri--which is much closer than the 3 hr 42 minutes of the Oak Brook Store in Northern Il --Really a suburb of Chicago I am sure.

But I thank you for the time that it took you to look it up for me--- kissie

Carol, you're very welcome, it took almost no time at all to look it up.

Merme, sounds like Maxi had a wonderful birthday. Can you believe our kids are almost in high school? It's both scary and exciting to me.

Sheri, that's awful about the kids. I hope they start feeling better soon. Lots of rest, fluids, and tylenol is about the best you can do huh?

I got home from work and cleaned up the kitchen. Aros is asleep, his sleep schedule has been getting worse the longer he's laid off. I'll be waking him up in a bit because we need to do some grocery shopping. All we have in the house that I can eat is eggs and tuna. He's got some soups and pasta but that's about it. We need food! Hope everyone had a good weekend.
