My Aunt sent me a very unexpected email from my Mother's Birthday party @ a Steak restaurant Ambroja set up for my Mom. My Aunt ( my Mom's sister) sent Pictures!!!!!! 
I felt so bad about not being able to take off work and going to KS, and being there for her 80th BD on Friday. Thanks to Ambroja  she saw to it Her Grandma was honored on her BD, But I'm going to be there this coming week

My cousin placed an announcement in the newspaper along with a picture of her, as an invite to send cards to her, along with saying where she had retired from : The Topeka School district Payroll Dept and H&R Block,, Yep she worked two jobs for many many years. This way those that worked with her all those years would recognize her and Honor her BD.
The cards you see on the table as of Friday are some of those cards. At that point she had received 40-50 BD cards and received several more on Saturday. I think that is soooo awesome that people from years ago participated in celebrating her BD.
My Mama has now been diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and is taking medication that seems to be slowing it's progress down just a bit. I'm so grateful she was able to enjoy her 80th BD, and be fully aware what was happening< that is such a blessing.

Looks like she had a wonderful birthday and it is really is a blessing that she is aware of it all and could fully enjoy it. Happy Birthday Diane's mom!

How very wonderful for your mom, and for you and Glenda to receive the pictures! It looks like she had a terrific celebration, and I'm sure your visit will be the icing on the cake! (Though that pink icing looked pretty good, didn't it?!?)
Isn't it fantastic how some of our parents are making it to their 80's and beyond, and to have so many people remember them fondly?!?
My mom turns 83 this Wednesday - I am thankful everyday for that - it's not been an easy road for her either, with several medical conditions.
I can't wait to hear all about your visit with your mom, when you return!

She has a dr's appt Friday morning. I want to go with her and speak with the Dr, so I can have a better understanding on anything else besides Alzheimer's she is dealing with. After the appt, I'm taking her going out for Lunch, and then shopping possibly. I don't know her how physical stamina is, but I will watch her carefully to see if she is tiring especailly after lunch. I may wait until Saturday to go shopping, I want Glenda and my other sister to go with us, so it will be Mom and all her daughters shopping together. I don't think that has occurred with all of us shopping together since we were kids. Thanks Lynne and early Happy Birthday to your Mom's 83rd Birthday as well. yes It is a Blessing to have them with us.

Here are more pictures of my Mom, one with my niece sneaking in.  I asked my Mom how many she expected at her dinner and she replied" I don't know, maybe the whole town!" It's my fault we can't get to her until a week after her BD (my grandaighter was baptised last Sunday) but who wouldn't want two parties with gifts at both. Thanks Sheri ,, She has always as long as I can remember used Avon face cream even on her hands,, every night before bed and every morning the same avon face cream. Funny you should mention Pink cake,, She asked me to bake her a cake when I get there,, she already got her Pink cake now she wants a white cake with White icing and Sprinkles on it < IN her own words She told me me that last week and again the day of her birthday reminding me I had to make her sprinkle cake ,, so again the meds are helping because she sure mentioned the " sprinkle cake" again Thank you too Merme It will be a very short stay there I have a lot of Highway to cover and Glenda has even more road time then I do.We have to put a lot into the 2-3 days we are there. And Yes the cameras will get a lot of use :wink:

Good thing I called My mom a while ago,, I sent her a gift card To Kohls she didn't see it when she opened the card. I figured it was gone for ever,, possibly opening it at the restaurant,, and it slipped out on to the floor  , But It was found,, in a wicker basket someone put all her cards in there for her,, WHewwwwwww,, glad it wasn't lost I don't know how she missed seeing it when she opened it But grateful someone else was paying attention

Diane---that is great that your DD made sure your mom's B-day was celebrated.
While you could not be there for that party, I am sure your mom will LOVE having you there when you can go. AND if Glenda is going to be there too, (did I understand you right??) she will be especially happy to have the 2 of you with her at one time---Will there be photos of that??? I hope so.
