I know, Cheryl. I have a hard time thinking of Maxi as a nearly-high schooler. It sorta makes me sad but proud of him at the same time. It won't be too many years now and he'll be off to college. tears but somehow proud tears of joy. Bittersweet, I guess the word is.

Well I'm off for tonight. Maxi's school is closed tomorrow so he is staying up later than usual so I can read to him.

See you all tomorrow at some point.

I am a great-Aunt eight times over, Di! yikes Several of them are older than my son!! Well, that's what can happen when you get a late start. lol

I can't think of you as a great-Grandma, though!!

Maxi was in such a chatty mood tonight. He really did have a good day and I'm so glad.

Dropping in to say good night again. There is a spammer on board but it was already reported so I can sleep well and it will be covered.

I didn't report them but I knew you would be in to take care of business.
Good morning. I will be taking Ted in to school today. First time back since the bug got him. He is still not back up to his full weight and cheer but neither is he ill. We will see how today goes for him.

Good morning. Spammers must get responses to their sites or they would eventually stop spamming right?

I haven't called to check on the children yet. If they're asleep I don't want to wake them up

So Tina, it seems most students are off school today. Wonder why Ted has to go.

[Linked Image]... How is everyone doing today?

It's a cold 40 degrees here right now - got down to the low 30's overnight, but thankfully none of my plants froze yet. My Charles Grimaldi brug is still blooming his fool head off and I really do not want to have to cut him back to bring indoors yet. I hope I am not tempting nature by leaving him out a bit still...

I am becoming a tea person - I need something hot to warm me up since we still haven't turned our heaters on. Today I am trying "mood mender" - am hoping it helps with the stress headaches I've been having way too often of late.

What is on everyone's plate for today?

Lynne, I thought about you last night when I saw a man on QVC or the Shopping Network who said to put cotton balls soaked in peppermint down the holes of ground hogs and moles or voles to make them leave your area. Of course he was selling a book.

Our local school district has never taken Columbus Day off. Some of the offices do though.
About 50% of Ted's side of his school was out last week with swine flu. It is sad but it does feel better not to be the only one or to be the one that brought it down on everyone.
And the other side of his school is the more fragile health-wise so I'm glad they were not as affected.
I pour straight ammonia down gopher holes. They tend to move away. It only works as long as it is wet though so I like to pour a little down each day. It will not hurt the grass, plants or any other living creature, but most of God's creatures avoid it like crazy. They pack up and leave the yard. But they will move to the neighbor's and annoy them.

Good morning everyone! Today I did a short run, a little over mile and a half. We ran up and down the bleachers instead. Well, my friend ran, I walked them. My leg muscles aren't as strong as hers and when I tried to run I almost tripped. That's okay, it was still good cross training for my legs. I'm at work right now, got a bunch to do today but thought I'd pop in while I finish my coffee. Hope everyone has a good day!

Thanks for thinking of me, Sheri!

Our schools are all closed today, though work is open for most others here today, and Amy's college is open which is odd as they closed for it last year. As a matter of fact, they are not getting the mid-semester break they had last year this time either. Only 2 days off for Thanksgiving... odd.

I am waiting for a package to be delivered here, and then I'm off to Michael's - they are having all their good beads on sale today at 50% off (with a coupon), for the holiday. That is a great deal, and though I don't really need any right now, it doesn't hurt to stock up to make holiday gifts while they are on a good sale!

Tina, do you split your own wood? I've never even tried that one.

Cheryl, you're really going to be in shape for your wedding. My niece, who is getting married in November and was already thin as a rail, has been so stressed she has lost weight and now is concerned that her dress will have to be altered so much that it won't look right. She's having a destination wedding but wants the "traditional" wedding and it's been hard on her trying to arrange everything from out of town. Her mother tried to discuss either not having the traditional church, cake, reception and all that out of town or moving it to in town and having everything but that suggestion was not well received. So she's going to be this anorexic looking bride in a too big dress. But the guests will have a good dinner and reception with dancing. What's wrong with that picture. Anyway, Cheryl, you're counting down the days by now. It won't be long.

Lynne, that's a great deal. Makes me wonder how much the mark up is when stores give such good deals. And it's smart to have them on hand for when you're able to work with them.

Glad you're better Nana. Hope my little ones don't have to suffer with the flu too long.

Yes, Sheri. We used to do it with a maul and wedges. Then we got a wood splitter and now I have three of them. But I am waiting on some promised help with the splitting too.

Moving update: The fully packed, 40' long moving van is 13'6" tall. The gate at the end of the driveway is 13'2" tall. The "shuttle" truck, which is not 40' long, is in Starkville. Starkville is about 35 miles away. This could take a while.

I am sorry, Marica. But that is a little bit funny too. I am glad someone thought to check the height of both though before a bigger disaster occurred.
I have had a morning full of funny incidences getting ready for our first big rain of the season myself. One included a full out dirt shower.
