I have a 4 1/2 quart Rubbermaid-type canister. I call it "my noodle jar".
Whenever I open a new box or bag of pasta or noodles for a recipe and have a small amount left over, I do not put it back in the closet. I would end up with way too many boxes and bags of pasta products with very small amounts inside!
I simply dump them into my noodle jar.
So, at any given time, my noodle jar might have a cup or so of elbows, a half cup or more of shells, maybe some twisted pasta. If I have unused spaghetti noodles, I break it into 1 1/2 inch lengths before putting it in my jar.
Then, when I'm making something like soup where the various cooking times won't matter, I just throw in a handful or two from my jar. So, my "chicken noodle" might contain Penne, Elbows, Shells and bits of spaghetti.
Also, it is handy if I need miscellaneous noodles for crafts.
It sure saves a lot of space in my cupboard and prevents waste of those small odds and ends of pasta remnants.

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Good idea Merme. I do basically the same idea, but usually use one of the pasta boxes instead.
