Good morning, everybody! The coffee is good and fresh this morning. I indulged in buying some Dunkin Donut grinds at the grocery so it is particularly yummy. Maxi is sleeping in a little. Last night was his Karate Christmas party and he is still tired from the long week. I have leftover Party Food if anybody is interested in nibbling... Merme

We were supposed to get 6 inches overnight last night but the storm seemed to have slowed and spent itself out on the more southerly states. PA & DE got slammed pretty hard & they typically do not get much. Ours didn't start til morning, in fact, and it never got bad. Our pageant went very well & everyone was so pleased. I was stunned afterward when they presented me with a huge bouquet of flowers.... carnations, those lacy mums, mini orchids, eucalyptus & baby's breath. It smells heavenly & looks even better. My apt looks like Crafting Central with bits & pieces and debris and spilled glitter (yes, I dropped an entire bottle!), but I got to bed ohsovery late & we had to get a very early start this morning. So this afternoon I crashed. And still need to finish sleeping it off. I have til Tuesday morning to straighten up & put all the crafting stuff away & then I'm off to the hospital & should be home again Wednesday late in the day. Maxi & his friends had a wonderful time. Merme

Wouldn't it be nice if messes cleaned themselves? I have been cleaning my oven. It was long overdue. So I am feeling pretty accomplished tonight. And I am tired also. Good night all.

Good morning, everybody. Looking out our sliders on a snowy cold landscape which is very pretty. Glad for the warm snug house and the good coffee and Christmas Carols in the background. Merme

Good Morning. I am off to take my MIL out to do some banking and then off ot get her her Christmas gift. I am having her pick it out as I want her to be able to see it well enough to use it. She has macular holes in her eyes, & has difficulty seeing everything well. Luckily for me the weather is co-operating. AND I have my tree up--well not really--I have my small 3 ft tree up. I got this one for Rod's apartment the Christmas after we got engaged. But there will be more room in the livingroom this way, and since I am having Christmas, that is good. well I am off to begin my day---I wish everyone a good day---I'll be around later---

Morning,, Well it's my morning- Nana slept around the clock just about... off and on anyay... I keep dozing off with laptop so finally got out of bed and ate something and feel kind of better--- used my neti pot - helped some- just feel like someone buried my head in a feather pillow and forgot to leave me breathing room.... I am going to go make banana bread soon- I figure I can at least get it to oven stage and go take a hot shower while it bakes- .... just awfully slow going for everything today.... Glad to see you Cindy - so glad to know you are okay and resting .... now keep it up... well off to get out the stuff... Nana

I hope you will be able to smell your banana bread, Nana, at least. That is half the joy of baking it. I have had a productive day. Tore out a mess of ivy that was threatening to take over the world, beginning with my driveway. More ivy to go. I have kept it in check for years but it got out of hand this past couple.

I have a lot more ivy to tear out, Carol. But at least we can get in and out of our vehicles without having it trying to strangle our feet. Or, in warmer weather, wondering if there is a snake under there.

It's a beautiful day here. On the news last night they said this is the longest we've been without rain in 3 months. It hasn't rained since Saturday.

Hi all, I think I am finally on the mend... didn't get bread in oven yesterday... so did get it in today- sure wish I could smell it... not going to happen.... but at least I can breathe now... always a good thing... Carrie is so mad at Sears photo studio- she and her family went right after Thanksgiving and had portait pic taken- they came back after 2 weeks and had shadows and blurs- so they sent them back to the lab and said they could get it out-- they came back a week later worse... she told them okay one more try and please if you can't do it let me know and I will go elsewhere.... they called he said pics were in and were perfect--- LIED to her big time- they are terrible pics- worse than they were origianlly--- so she went in today and said look I don't have time to have them redone again I just want my money back- every time they said something about doing it over she said I want my money back... finally they agreeed to give her the money back...can't believe how little they care about doing the job right and making it right when they don't.... to late now for her to have them redone for Christmas-- she is going to try and take the cd to a camera shop that makes prints and see if they can fix any of them.... sure hope they can.... she was counting on them as presents for family. Well I am off to make a batch of cookies I think... or maybe just go rest... sure wish this bug would go all the way away for me. Nana

I am glad you are feeling a little better, Nana. I would be furious at any photo studio that messed up so badly too. I am glad she got her money back. I hope you fully recover soon.

Nana, I think customer service is a thing of the past. That's bad that it was for Christmas though. I'm glad she stood her ground.

Yes I am glad too that she stood her ground,,, no excuse for such lousy service but I think I am with you customer service is a dying thing,,, sad to say... though the guy at the Ultimate store that sold them the tv and washer and dryer went way out of his way to get the stand for the tv for them- he had told them it was in the store and would be delivered that day... well it wasn't and he drove to Boulder on his own time and delivered it himself... I will go there to buy my next big thing because of that... Seems like they actually want the good rep that goes with good service... they closed here for awhile and retrained all their personal... sure made a big difference. Well it's late and I need to sleep.. got cookies to bake tomorrow and a house to clean up... Nana

Good Morning all. It has been raining since last evening sometime.--They say it will reach at least 4 inches before it stops. Today is a busy one for me. I have a long list of things to get done before tomorrow night when I go to church. Then there will be a whole new set of "to do's" lined up for Christmas morning. Dinner will be at 1--for 12, and 1 short person. I just wanted to stop in and say "hi" to you all before I begin. Hopefully I will be back at some point in the next few days....

It is nice to have your Christmas eve to yourself, Nana. You can relax. I know you will have a houseful on Christmas day. Stay safe in your weather too. It made our local news. And all of the stuff going on in the mid-west is nasty for holidays. I am just busy keeping myself busy today. Firewood and such. If the wind dies back a little I will be out tearing out more ivy.

yes Val will be here the 24th to stay the night. Then Emily will come Christmas moring to open gifts--- (she is staying the night with her roommate's mom----how do ya like that--I could understand it if she were staying with her MIL but no---not doing that---
then around noon I have my family coming, or all but 4 of them--they will be coming over to eat dinner----so there will be 13 of us.
and yes I am busy--luckily all but a very few of my gifts are wrapped. AND Rod wil be home tomorrow to help me finish up. why I even have my veggies chopped for the giblet broth & for the dressing.
it is THAT stuff that takes so much time....
--I wish I had to get firewood in...

Sorry, you may have said all this before but I can barely keep track of my own schedule much less someone else'. I also know you miss your wood stove of the olden days. They do take a lot of work to keep going and they add a lot of litter and dust to my already dusty mix. And if and when I may have to purchase firewood it will not be cheap. But I love it too.

well IF I said it all before I have forgotten it, so not to worry. I'm sorry, I know I harp alot about missing the wonderful heat that wood affords, but I do so miss it. IT would not be so bad if we would be able to turn up the temperature but gas is so expensive. and to tell you the truth neither Rod nore I would be able to have the wood burner even if we were still out at the farm. I cannot lift more than 20 pounds now & he injured his back a year or so after we moved here shoveling snow, and so he has to watch. and still he was going to put me in a small wood burner in the basement---but we figured between the neighbors complaining about the smoke & the insurance company upping our rates--we just could not do it. but you never know what the future will bring. you should have seem all the nice wood we gave away the year we moved---

I know, Carol. I thought about all of that while I was writing. And thinking about when I won't be able to do what I do with the wood. I am so thankful for my health. I am dropping off to bed now. It was a long, napless day. I hope to be able to get more done tomorrow. And a good night's sleep will help with that.

I cut, split, stacked and burned 10-12 cords of wood every year for 25 years. That is a complete impossibility now days. My propane fire isn't as pretty, but it sure is easier!

That IS a lot of wood for one falla to manage all alone, Bill! Good morning everybody! Happy Christmas Eve Day for those of you who celebrate. Happy Thursday for those of you who do not! I've finally slept off all the drugs. And now I am sitting here thinking of all the things I should be doing. And will do, too.... after my coffee........... Merme

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

My propane fire isn't as pretty, but it sure is easier! it took at least 17 heaping truckloads (however that exchanges) a year for us to keep the house as warm as we liked. Sometimes more if there was more maple than oak in the stockplile. Yes flipping a switch is certainly easier.---esp when one is not as young as they once were. Good morning everyone !! and a Merry Christmas Eve to you all. I have to get going to shop. I'll try to come back later today.
