I'm not sure if this belongs here...honestly I doubt it, but this was the closest thing I could find. I have a leaky sink, so we put the hose into a bucket and now our sink drains into a bucket. I'd like to use this to water my plants outside, but I'm not sure if the soapy water is healthy for the earth. Is this a good idea or not? We just use the average dish soap I suppose, not anything organic or super fancy. No bleach or anything though, just dish soap.

Grey water if fine for plants and most other earth critters as long as there isn't bleach or added chemicals in it.

Right on, so standard dawn or the such should be eco-friendly then?
I just really don't want to hurt the plants instead of helping them you know?
Also, I plan on putting it in a big container with hoses leading to the different areas. I figured I could just attach sprinklers to the hoses, and as long as I place the base container with the water at a higher level than the containers gravity should push it out, right?

My gray water from my washing machine and from the bathtubs goes directly out to my plants and trees, on the ground, never sprinkled onto leaves. My sinks and toilet go into a septic system. My grandmother's roses thrived on the water from her washing machine.
I don't pay particular attention to organic detergents or anything. And even bleach in moderate amounts have never harmed my plants as far as I can tell. I don't use much else like fabric softeners. They have been dosed with occasional bubble baths or bath salts over the years (20+). All without visible harm.
