Carol to answer your question from the last CH we are hoping Ford Corporation has someone who is a history buff for the company's past whom Maxi will be able to interview by phone. Big corporations often have pre-made packages for school kids but he needs to do a formal interview. We are working on questions.

Without us fully understanding the magnitude of the project, and without his teacher fully explaining it, the project is for the National History Day annual competition and Maxi and his classmates would be in the junior division.

I'm a bit irked that we weren't given a choice. Most kids would not want to do this much for a competition unless they were history buffs already. And parents do have to assist and there are even guidelines for what assistance we can give.

Good night all. The rain has begun here. My world is going to get very wet over the next few days. I just hope it all stays in one place.
I have dug ditches, cleaned ditches, filled sandbags and feel about as ready as I can get. I even climbed up onto my roof and cleaned out all of the rain gutters. I hope it all works.

wavy Hi everyone!

Another snowy morning here on the coast. We have 9 inches on the ground and more falling. My girl called off, completely misleading the boss as to reasons.

I hope complex management gets here to shovel because I have to go to dialysis regardless and so far, they haven't done any grooming.

Oh man, I need some coffee! lol

A wind storm blew through western Washington last night with lots of rain and gusts up to 65+ mph. Lots of power outages everywhere... except here. The driveway was dry when I got up and there was no signs of any wind.... bop

That is cool, Bill. I love weather. I am enjoying myself.
We are expecting 3-5 inches here just today. That is an excessive amount of water for us. I was just out checking my ditches for possible breaches, good so far. But that is subject to change if a chunk of my cliff comes down all at once.

I just got home and was going to shout out to ask if Bill was home yet when he shouted that he was back but WOUNDED! Wounded? I do not like the sound of that!

The snow has stopped falling for now and it sure is pretty out there...

Lots of rain. I have been out with my handy shovel redirecting it where I want it to go. Reminds me of playing in the dirt when I was a kid. Made rivers and things and my mother yelling at me for raising the water bill. I am actually having fun. I will be out again before dark. Got about 2 inches in about an hour and a half. Supposed to get about 3 more inches. Then 3 more storms coming after, back-to-back.

It is 8:40 PM and the men are here to groom the sidewalks and stairs. Gee, it is a good thing Maxi and my driver were around today to do it before and after dialysis or I never would have gotten out! I guess they didn't come sooner because it was a holiday & people weren't going to work.

Neither one of us feel very well, so I am having tea and toast for my dinner and Maxi is having eggs.

Good night all. We are getting storm #2 tomorrow. I was out in my yellow rain gear and muck boots today trying to keep mud and water flowing in the direction I wanted it to go. It did well. I did well. (I really had fun) The next couple of storms will go easy on us but Thursday's is supposed to be another whopper. Or a bigger whopper.

Good morning, everybody! Another snowy day on the coast of Maine.

Maxi got off to school okay and my girl made it here, so it is shaping up to be an ordinary day so far. YAY!

Hot coffee and oatmeal w/ maple syrup and butter.... yummy!

Merme -have any of that oatmeal left? It would save me the trouble of going downstairs to boil water right now! Thanks!

It's another gloomy day here today - drizzling just a touch, but we might be getting a little snow tonight. Thankfully Brian is back home from his computer "bootcamp" in Georgia, so everyone is where they should be today. He got 3 more certifications in 2 weeks, which was pretty intense. He and I had quite a few laughs last night after he got home, and that was a joy. Today it's back to the grind for all.

I need to get motivated and go grocery shopping - I never go on Mondays anymore because the manager there told me the trucks don't come until Tuesday so there's no point going on a Monday after it's been shopped out over the weekend.

Hi Lynne ~

That was really kind of your store manager for telling you the inside scoop on deliveries!

I sent my girl off to the grocery store today as well.

Hopefully, if it does snow down your way tonight, it won't add up to much.

I'm glad Brian conquered those certifications. A good job well done.

I'm not sure about the snowfall average for this week, Lynne. Yesterday we got a foot, and today is supposed to be just around 4 inches. Hopefully that will be the end of it but I haven't had a chance yet to check the week's forecast. I usually do that on my homepage which has a really good weather section but I've been too busy to look!

I really enjoy the THOUGHT of snow and looking at it through windows when it seems so pretty. I just hate trying to get out and about in it once it is on the ground! lol Can't have it all ways, I guess!

My girl, unfortunately, froze an entire variety pack of pork chops the other day so when I went to get 2 chops out of the freezer, I had to take the pack of 8!! So I am cooking pork chops today and will refreeze most of them after cooking. I carefully explained to her the importance of repackaging large quantities in a household of only two persons....

So I think I am making stuffed pork chops and spaghetti squash and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. That should be good on a snowy night.

What are you cooking today, Lynne, or won't you decide until you come home from the grocery?

Ok this is just plain scary!!! I am making boneless porkchops and spaghetti squash for dinner tonight too!!! shock nervous clap It's the truth - we got a 12 pack of chops at COSTCO on Saturday when we got the tv, and I got the squash at the farm last week. HONEST INJUN! I was waiting for Brian to be back home before making this dinner. We will have a green vegetable with it though, since the squash is substituting in for a pasta.

And I, too, have to divide the porkchops into smaller freezer bags. I hate doing that, so I'm waiting til I start dinner and will do it all then.

There's a weird vibe in the air today...

lol That is too funny, Lynne! lol

My girl said there was a weird vibe in the air today, too, and she is relieved we aren't the only ones who noticed!

I would normally be having green beans tonight but they are not Maxi's favorite and we just had them recently, so I'll do corn which is his #1 pick for vegetable.

I hope y'all enjoy your dinner together tonight as much as we will enjoy ours! Family time is such a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Did your shopping trip go okay? The snow is piling up out there for us...

I did just get good news though about my test from last week - all is fine thank goodness! Now I just need to find out where this other pain is coming from.

Thank goodness the test from last week came back okay! Now you are right: you need a specific understood cause.

Did you try clearing your browsing cache as Bill suggested? I did but it didn't make a difference for my missing titles. But I'm wondering if it will help you on your post writing?

I just got up from a short nap. It is still snowing here... the mail was delivered two hours late! Maxi's friend Dom was here and just got all bundled up for the walk home. It surely is different when the kids have to shed so many layers at the front door and then get re-dressed before leaving! In the summer they just kick off shoes on the way in....

Dinner in the oven smells heavenly. I am hungry and wish it were ready now.

It always makes me sad when plants are fooled into thinking it is spring!

We are having more snow today, just a light fall, though... the worst is up north just a titch.

Morning all!

We've had temps near or just above 40 the past week and all my sedums have started to grow, and my butterfly bushes as well! Not a good thing, as today we are all frosted over once again. I couldn't look at the rest of the plants because the ground is muddy from the snow that melted.

The pond thawed out completely too, and I was able to see 5 of the 9 fish yesterday. This morning it is all frozen over once again except the area around the heater. So far that's been working very well. It looks like all the pond plants that I put down into the pond are still alive - keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to buy new ones this year. Well of course I will be buying more water lilies now that we had some blooms last summer!

What's up for everyone today? I need to go for a blood test, and might hit a few stores while I'm out.

good morning all.

I am home most of today. I have not even had my coffee yet.
at some point I need to go to Rod's Aunt's house--still more things to pick up from there I think.
congratulations on the well being of the pond & its inhabitants. But I am sorry about the outdoor plants. I have a few weeds (well I hope it is weeds) coming up also. I need to begin getting some of tha old growth cleaned off on some of the warmer days as I was not able to do it last fall.

have fun out today---I hope the blood test is routine???

Are you having any "warmer days" yet Carol?

I am quirky enough to love the fog and that's a good thing because we get lots of it here on the coast....
