I am fighting sleepiness too, Carol. I was blaming it on rain on the roof but I can't today.

No, I worked on my mud flow so it went around my house. It was a lot of fun actually. I do feel for the people who were not so lucky. But there are a lot fewer of them than there could have been. So we have been generally lucky so far.

' Just learning But I plan on making my grandkids each one for Christmas next year, or maybe their birthday since it will still be winter in Ks, If I hurry now!

Diane learning to sew blankets is good work and a great idea for Christmas or Birthdays too! Carol Jean I waited for you to come on all day and then I missed you! I would not like large amounts of mud threatening my home but I do like small amounts of mud to put my toes into. Merme

Hi all, Been cleaning some today and other than that being fairly lazy .... did get my old online friend from Au to join here... he name is Isnoo... Merme knows her too... from way back.... LOL! She may be back tomorrow I hope. Making blankets is not to hard Diane- I think I made each kid at least 2 of them so far and some more than that.... only hard if they are really big or thick... I don't like it dark so early either-- winter is hard time for me anyway the cold an dark just don't agree with me a lot , I do better when we can go down to Az in the early spring but that probably won't happen this yr- Well Joe should be home in a few - he is making spaghetti for us tonit- salad and garlic toast too... he is later than usual tonit cause he helped a lady from his work get a bookcase home she bought and in her house... I need to pkg up the chicken and empty the dishwasher before he can cook so see you all later ..... Nana

I can't believe I missed Nana Sherri AND Isnoo too!! Well, we DID plow through the massive amount of homework Maxi had to make up because of his absences. I think his history teacher is either insane or believes that his is the only class worth doing. Course, I didn't tell Maxi I thought so! Now I am wiped out, exhausted, and we still have homework for other subjects to complete tomorrow after church..... Merme

Good morning everybody! Is everyone risen and shining? Looking out my slider, it seems as though we are in for bad weather. Going on my favorite, typically most accurate weather site, it gave conflicting reports for today... a winter storm advisory was running across the top of the screen while today's weather report was sunny and fair! Why can't it give one cohesive report?! Hopefully my girl will be here on time today and we will get to church! It has been a long time since we went.... not since 12/20. The coffee is fresh and hot and I wish you were here with me to have some! Merme

Good Sunday morning. I have my coffee and have stoked my wood stoves. But I'm still a little chilly.

I wish all the time I had a wood stove although I realize they can be much work and demand daily care. Still, I don't think there is anything more consistently comforting than a wood stove. When we move this summer I am going to be looking hard for a place with one....
Of course, Maxi would have to help manage the wood, but I don't think he'd mind too much.
My girl is here and only 17 minutes late. So much better than 1 1/2 hours late! YAY!

Hello everyone, Happy Sunday, it's warm out ~ sunny about 73,, I have windows and doors open, and Chicken in the oven. I just finish baking brownies,, this house is smelling good! Merme I'm glad I don't have a wood stove, too much wood work, and cleaning and stoking, and ashes to deal with, seems like there would be constant cleaning involved,, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and window cleaning is enough for me

I really kind of enjoy the working to keep the stoves going. There is a lot of mess, they are dirty and I end up with the old torture of splinters under my nails if I'm not careful. But when I enjoy my stoves most is when I hear people talking about their heating bills. The wood warms me cutting it, gathering it together, splitting it, hauling and stacking it, and hauling it again into the house. And then it warms the whole family when it burns. It also helps keep me in shape. I use my propane for heating water for showers and baths and for cooking. It is a system that works for me and I hope continues for a very long time. The ashes get 'mulched' for aiding the other plants to grow. Scattered, they help keep critters from slugs to deer at bay. It is work but work I like for now.

Oh, I dunno, Di Di. When I was a kid my parents had a wood stove... the big, elaborate (and quite attractive) model known as The Franklin Stove in our living room. It did great heating that big old drafty farmhouse for us! Maybe I've got sentimental attachments to the memory but I do know some of my siblings chose wood stoves to augment their furnaces and their homes were always snug. In fact, a fired up wood stove can drive you right out of the same room! Church was good today. A big topic of conversation was Haiti. Our church raised $4,000 last Sunday and the money went very directly to a medical/urgent care relief organization that is already in place there. This afternoon they are holding an All Faiths Gathering with Bishops, A Rabbi, An Imam and several denomination Ministers leading the people in prayer. Today's collection will go to the Red Cross. It is nearly impossible to comprehend 3 million refugees in their own country and the magnitude of the problems of feeding, providing shelter and health care to so many, but we wealthy nations of the West need to try. I have a great admiration for the French Tent Hospitals that have been set up... I think they are called "Field Hospitals" and the massive work they are doing. Merme

Oh, man....I gotta weigh in on this wood stove thing. When I lived in my farmhouse (14 years there) I had several stoves/fireplaces. One in the kitchen had doors that opened in front so you could see the fire...and it was the kind you can cook huge meals on. Our electricity went out a lot back then...it was way in the boonies. Once the electric was out in the coldest part of February after a massive ice storm...out for 15 days. If it hadn't been for those stoves and fireplaces we would have frozen to death. I loved splitting the huge oak logs...I was young and strong and it was very relaxing to split wood every morning, even in summer. People were always amazed when they met me and saw such a scrawny person with NICE muscles! My late husband said something sorta like Tina said...the wood warms you many times...when you cut it, split it, carry it inside...then while you set in front of a nice cozy fire. I am about to bust with some awesome news about someone...but I don't know if it's OK to tell it yet. I am the happiest person in the world today. Well...I'm kinda sad because Rachel and Brennan left awhile ago, but the happy thing really made my day.

Well, gee, I've been waiting for hours to hear more... more from anybody! I helped Maxi with this week's studies toward his Confirmation later this spring. We helped him with his Math homework. We both yakked on the phone. We had dinner and now are having a bedtime snack. I got over 200,000 points on Text Twist. I've researched more details about Maxi's new school. And I'm still waiting, wondering where did everybody go? Gee, if I didn't use Secret I'd be a-worrying! Merme

That is wonderful news, isn't it? I love the idea of the hooker mom dress. I hope Rachel likes it too.
