Tonight's full moon will be the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. It offers anyone with clear skies an opportunity to identify easy to see features on the moon. This being the first full moon of 2010, it is also known as the wolf moon, a moniker dating back to Native American culture and the notion that hungry wolves howled at the full moon on cold winter nights. And of course it's raining here right now and more than likely won't be clear skies later,, SO I doubt I'll even get to see it But for those of you that have clear skies tonight it should be a beaut! If by some chance it clears out I'll try to get a picture,,

Maxi did get to see the moon tonight, but unfortunately didn't think to photograph it for us! We have GOT to get in the habit of taking pictures of everything now that we can. I still tend to think of pictures as though I'm using expensive film and don't wanna "waste" it. Silly me. Merme

Not silly at all, Diane.... I've been a sky watcher all my life! (If you are silly for doing it, then I must be too and I'm not silly. See how that works? ) One of my favorite childhood memories is laying out on the grass with my sisters, cousins, friends (whoever was around) and watching the night sky. Keep looking up -- you never know what you may see! Merme

yep, mine was to lay on the ground or the porch, during the day, and watch the clouds. I would imagine how I would lasso them & bring them dowe so I could lay on them & be so comfortable. (I watched to much Circus Boy & The Lone Ranger I guess)

Well......I'm bringing this back up from Feb. cause I can't find any other thread to use. This isn't a "wolfmoon". I'm calling my pictures "Moon River". Last night I went outside and this was my sky to the east, with the moon coming up and the clouds moving under it, over it and across it. A storm was moving in and it rained later. ![[Linked Image]](http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/Shirley4_album/Shirley4/2010%20for%20GH/stormnsunshineApr2610008.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/Shirley4_album/Shirley4/2010%20for%20GH/stormnsunshineApr2610015.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/Shirley4_album/Shirley4/2010%20for%20GH/stormnsunshineApr2610018.jpg)

Thanks Diane. Everything taken together just made a pretty picture, to me. I know Dodge. There have been some gorgeous close-ups of the moon posted on here, and I have tried, but I just don't have the right kind of camera, it won't take those close, close shots!

Dodge, the tomatos are doing great. It's suppose to be about 32 here tonight, but my son said the plants will be OK.

The beach is on the other side of the state, but my son assures me I will get there. Rocky Mount is more in the thin point on the west side of the state that points toward KY.
