Question .
I have dial up yet>>>>>>
I am windows 7 now.
Norton wont update on here , and leaves it open to virus.

so I removed that
Put on Microsoft Security Essentials
Same thing happened . It wont update.. Runs n runs an quits an tells me I need to update.LOL took that off.

Now running avg

Would you have any idea why?

PS. a faster net called tonite, I might change wheels.

Thanks

Not sure, the internet is the internet; no real reason why it shouldn't allow updates; you could muck around the "control panel" and "firewall" and be sure you're not blocking norton or AVG...

BTW, I pefer Avast

My fire wall is on . What do you do, turn it off permanently?

It doesnt bother avg just Norton an Microsoft Security Essentials upload.

is there someone who could check your computer & all the settings for you, Barb?? perhaps your son??

I have Vista and Norton. My firewalls are up and all is well. I get updates all the time.---

BUT that is not saying that "certain" things have not been turned off.

My computer savvy SIL & my DD fixed up this computer for me. I am a dunce when it comes to such as that.

Thanks for the response.

My son & wife always say i know more then they do on here.

I am thinking Mog is correct .
Your not on dial up .........
This is a brand new computer and Windows 7 with dial up

Windows 7 isnt made for the the dial up ..Has no modem. I had to buy an install a modem on my own.. I am computer savvy also , but do get set backs.

I have a nephew if needed. He doesnt know the answer.LOL
Didnt know windows 7 had no modem.

Don't turn the firewall off, there should be an option "allow program"

Things are fine , I have Avg protection on
Malbytes on.

When I have time I will try MSE again an shut off the firewall an see what happens.

thanks for asking.

WIndows 7 doesnt have Outlook express for the mail and I miss it bad.
Not compatible with 7.

However better than no computer.

4 foot snow drifts to fight now.
