Good morning everybody! Come on in! Tina stoked the fires earlier so I just moved 'em on over here. We got hot stuff to drink and yummy things to eat, so make yourself to home and sit a spell. It is a lovely 13 degrees today on the southern coast of Maine; warm for this time of year -- or so they say! Merme

We need to start a how stupid are you thread.
A 1st grade student was sent to the health room with stomach cramps and diarrhea. No fever but the virus that's been going around here doesn't come with a temp, just vomitting and diarrhea. So I called mom who said that she complained of her stomach hurting this morning so she gave her a laxative. What kind of dummy gives a child a laxative then sends them to school?? I'm not sure if she's lying thinking she won't have to pick her up if I think it's not viral or what. I told her whatever it is this poor child can't stay in school feeling this way. People!!

Yup, a how stupid are you thread would probably be funny.
I waded my way through a MOUNTAIN of paperwork. First for Maxi's new school and second for my housing. ay-yi-yi. Glad to get it done, though.
I had to establish a folder for all the paperwork we are accumulating through the school.
My nurse is here to do my leg then I am off to dialysis.

A how stupid are you thread WOULD be fun. Sheri, I'm in the library and when I read that part about the mom giving laxative to a child before school I got some dirty looks for my laughing. I have a how stupid are you story..... an annoying neighbor was told a dozen times yesterday we would NOT be going to his house for the supperbowl and that we were NOT having a party - just family. he shows up drunk during the second quarter. not just happy drunk, but drowning in the bottle drunk. he went outside several times to smoke and we kept locking the door on him. he would knock to get back inside. I don't know about you, but If I get locked out I might knock once thinking it was an accident but not over and over. morning Carol Jean, Merme, Sheri! sorry I missed you merme. hope your day goes well.

Actually, my neighbor did walk in when he was drunk, twice. I told him if it happened again I would call the cops and have him arrested for B&E or burglary or for anything I could. I have also had to keep my doors locked since then. It upset John a lot at the time. I have been busy doing indoor busy work. It is time to go out and bring in more wood though.

Good afternoon all...pass the coffee. It's great to be back amongst you all, I missed you all so much.
I was busy dealing with the snow that hit us for the past 24 hours, it's slowly adding up out there.

too funny Nana.... We only have two feet of snow on the ground...it had snowed lots but the weather was strange this year and melted each storm within days of it falling...in fact it's melting out again as I type.

Tamara our snow is unusual this yr cause it stays.. supposed to melt away and it stays cold so it doesn't melt... this storm only gave us a couple inches but it's still coming down now and they said it would be over by now--- sure wish they would make up their pointy little minds... Well Joe just got home- better feed the boys and get our cornbread in the oven - made a chili soup receipe out of my fat/salt free cookbook so hope it tastes as good as it smells... Nana

We are to get another storm through here tomorrow night. It isn't supposed to dump as much water but it is supposed to be much colder than the last few.

Dinner is over, shower taken, homework is done and we are winding things down for the night. I am exhausted! My blood pressure has been up all day, too, even with dialysis. Just a day or two ago, I was so low my nurse was alarmed but I felt fine. go figure. I got all my labs back today from the blood work and all the levels are right on target as they should be. But then, they usually are. It is nice to know that some things always go right! I found a new (for me) facial moisturizer and I'm very pleased with it. I have very sensitive skin, so I have to be cautious and I can not stand anything heavy or greasy on me. This is Aveeno and it works great in this harsh winter weather! Merme

I am going to try soem Eucerin for red skin. (I have Rosacea) My youngest says it works well, that she has tried it, so we shall see. about our snow, they now say we are only going to get 3-6 inches of the stuff. I guess with all of the various predictions one is bound to be right, HUH ???

I am here too, Carol. Just typed up a whole long post and then hit a wrong button and it went into cyberspace!!! I've had a long day, and tomorrow will be one as well. Don is taking the day off and we are going to drive up to Connecticut (1 hour) to visit my cousin and his family. He is on hospice now, and is not expected to live much longer. He's been battling his condition for well over 20 years now, and his body has just had enough. Very sad, as he's only 55. We will take his wife and daughter out for lunch, and then visit with him for as long as he is able to have company. Then we will come home before dinner and prepare for the snowstorm that is coming tomorrow night into all day Wednesday. They are predicting 12-18 inches and say we won't be as lucky as this past Saturday when it didn't show up here at all. Good thing Brian made a LARGE batch of chili yesterday - that will help keep us warm!

WOW lots of typing while I was too! Hi everybody!
Carol - Amy loves Eucerin - I find it too greasy, but then I am VERY picky about my lotions.

Carol we use Eucerin body lotion because it soothes the itchiness of winter dry skin. It works really well. Lynne we must be getting your storm after you are done with it because they are calling for snow here Wednesday. Chili is a great keep me warm-er! Diane I just started using the Aveeno yesterday though I have had it around for a while. I am terribly reluctant to put anything on my face but yesterday I got brave. Glad for it now. I have a fresh pot of coffee brewing and it will be heavenly after this long day I have had. Merme

What has been killer up here the last few weeks is the wind. It just tears right through your clothes like you aren't wearing a thing. The sun can be so lovely and the day so bright but man, step into that wind, and WOW!
I decided to make Maxi an elaborate omelet in the morning because I've got leftovers that'll go great in it. He is going to be surprised because normally I keep it simple on weekday mornings.
Lynne I just reread your post. I am very sorry about your cousin. I hope you and Don can have a nice time up there and be a comforting presence to the family. Sometimes it seems nothing useful can be said or done, but simply sitting there and "being with" can be a help.
I'm sure they will enjoy going out to lunch and taking a break from it all. It is very nice of you & Don to do this.
Merme
