THIS IS MY MYRTLE NOW.





Everytime someone touches him, leaves fall off...I've had him about 7 months and since then ive lost his instructions tag. I remember it said though that he didnt need a lot of sun or water. I've tried everything though. Less water, more water..more sun, less sun..spraying his leaves with water...I love him, HELP HIM!

Is that Crepe Myrtle?

Type that into google an they will tell you how to grow it .

I have crepe myrtles they are definitely outside~ in the ground plants/trees. I agree with Wild Willy = Air is Probably too warm/ dry in the house.However it takes the dry heat of the summer here in Tx,, Big difference from House heat/air.
IF you can't get it planted outdoors anytime soon I would at least keep it in a window with sun or a grow light above it, and set the pot on a deep tray with pebbles with a little water in it to give it a bit of humidity,until you can get it planted outside.

I was able to grow one here in zone 6 for 2 years but then the ice and frost got to it. There is a beautiful HUGE one about 15 minutes from me that I drool over every summer - how I wish I had one like that in my yard!

This doesn't look like a crepe myrtle to me. It looks like a true myrtle, Myrtus communis. Do the leaves smell fairly strongly when crushed? If you are growing as a house plant it still follows the rules above. It needs plenty of sunlight and some humidity in the air. Keep it away from heat sources. Let the soil dry a bit between watering though. It doesn't like soggy roots.
I would say to put your plant out in the sun as early as you can after frost dates and before the next frost (spring, summer, fall). You will like the effects on it.

After the discussion on Crepe Myrtle yesterday.

I had a bag with c m seeds that would not germinate, I was going to toss them.
Here when I opened the bag, I seen about a dozen starts.LOL

zone 7 an up hardy only.. Yuk......
I guess give a ways.

Dodge - why not give a few of them a try, since they already germinated for you?

I am letting them grow.. Cheers me up.
I once had one , thought it did winter over, then gave it away.
I will show them after they enlarge. All looked good today.

I wont need them all if anyone wants one.

I've seen that leaf on the lot before - maybe it's myrtle, growing wild - I'll look at that leaf more closely this season.
