The things you can roll out and water and they grow flowers. How well do they work? Is it worth a shot?

All depends, my grandma had them and wasn't impressed, yet my aunt used them and loved them.

The flowers are all different heights..mixed through out, so if it's a wild flower kind of look you want, I say go for it.

they sell an a lot of those roll out flower things, and do so year after year. So I guess they must work, at least to some extent. But it is like Tamara says, it depends on what kind of look you are going for.

My daughter had a wild flower bed she grew from a package mix last year, and I must say it was beautiful. She did pass comment on how there was a very pretty flower "down in the middle" of the bed, and could no longer be seen due to the height of the outlying flowers.....

One must keep height in mind , in any planting.

an what shade an what sun requirements.

Also dont block the pretty house view from the street.
