Hello everyone, my name is Rick

Well..I try to have a green thumb lol...so far not all too bad prayers
I live in Mid-Michigan..yeah the state that you get all 4 seasons in one day!

Gardening/yard stuff is a pass time for me during the summer but my passion is more for the winter stuff..im a snowmobiler and a snow collector by winter.

My green thumb comes form many yrs with a shovel in hand as my parents lived in the country and grandparents were farmers, so I know some of the tricks.

My humble yardscape is a little lot in a modular home park ,so compact thinking is a must . Most of the plants were transplants from my parents place with some store bought items ..mainly tree/shrubs stuff.

I get pretty creative with things due to space by spliting things up and using what I can. I was a carpenter in my younger yrs so being creative in designs makes things work and put a little zip from the plain jane.

Some of the stuff I have is... Hosta's,a few verities of grasses(fountian ,zebra and a couple of other kinds ). Peani's ,lillys(star-gazer, day lillys and those orange ones), ferns, and a few from the iris family, and what ever else that will grow ...lol.

I also tryed a veggie garden in the past and space has been the challenge, plus it's clay around here. In the past I've had so-so luck with corn , mato's and beans. This yr Im going at it with more focus on soil and what and how to grow it.
Between raising my beds some and using containers im going to try tater's,mato's, beans, cuc's, zuc's and peppers.

As soon as I get some pics organized for the site I'll start sharing.
This site looks to be a nice place to share the summer sizzle together . I found it when surfing veggie growing and has already helped...thank you .

Look forward to sharing, not to many people will take the time these days and kids???.. well todays kids it has to have a ring tone or a cable hooked to it! why..besides most only have one hand ....the other one is holding there pants up rolz

BTW excuse my grammer ..not the best , I was out in the dirt and growing good grammer was not on my list at the time. grin

More soon..time to go see where the sun is at .

Rick

I am a real life farmer.

I love your choice of words......Your getting an A if you can build things.

Pot planting is great for tomatoes. Lots of Penna folks intown do that .
I jut planted strawberrys in plastic barrels cut in half.

Just as questions.. we all are eager to answer.

If you have a Photobucket account the pics are soooo easy to post here.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone , feels good .
Warning ... I do get a bit out of kilter when it gets too hot and when "snow" is in the forcast neener lol.

I said I have some green in me ...let me show you some .
This yard was bare when I started and only had a back deck w/ lattice rails.

Dodge; yes I can build , jack of trades for the most part. Give me something to work with and some tools and I'll give you results.... give me a paper and pen and tell me to write... you will get doodles or a blueprint ! docs

.. I built a 8x8 deck at the front door and made a bridge (14ft)to the back deck. Recycled the old rails which is the arbor today and did the sunrise through out. Everything wood I did "and" all those rocks too(learned how to collect them too when younger) tapfoot<<<Dad !

OK .. here's some pics of what Im working with ..and everybody likes pics thumbup

Hi Rick and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found us!

My son & I have limited growing space.... just our front porch. We do tomatoes upside down in a hanging basket and they do great while saving space.

I really like your bridge w/ the sunrise design. There is a very large old home here in our resort town w/ that design on the porch railings on both stories of the house. I have always liked the look of it!

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

T/Y,It does turn into a jungle mid-summer. When I started it was all about breaking up the the big box on a lot look these parks have . I grew up in the country so this kinda living is not my cup of tea...but till the kids are all on there own and we can make the move were here.

2 more yrs and the youngest is out of H.S and were FREE!!! lol . Then if things go right I can go grow pine trees and ferns up north clap
