I USED tos see so MANY of these birds as a teenager that I totally ignored them. Once I became a birder, I almost never saw one again. Last year was the first time in FIFTEEN years I had seen one. I went back there today and saw TWO and heard several more, so this species MAY be making a comeback in my area. I took this picture day-before-yesterday in a horse pasture a mile from my house. These birds are VERY skittish. I took this picture from 150 feet away using my telephoto zoom lens at its MAX . Even so, the picture is not very good but IS recognizable as a Meadowlark. This is ALSO the FIRST Meadowlark I have EVER photographed. I think they are one of the prettier birds in North America. Google up some pics of them to get a better view. I will go back and wait for them to come to me to try and get a BETTER pic later.

Dodge, you should have some of these around your farm. They like to perch conspicuously on fence posts and fence wires and on dead tree branches so are EASILY seen (from a distance)!

I have not ever seen one either. I have however been in a field & was told "that sound you hear is a meadowlark"---
