I took these at the park today; I also have some that I put in the rock garden last year. But I don't know what they're called - I know they're related to that other spring plant - not hyacinthe . . . but a word like that. spring%20Gardening%202k10/Bluebies.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/>

Ahhhh! I used to know the name, but just didn't remember it.
This particular plant was left in the lobby for me a couple of years ago - it finally dried up and I just broke it up and put pieces of it in the rock garden - came up before anything else.
Thanks, Dodge.

OK - two id's here . . . Grape Hyacinth & Muscari . . . let's google . . . http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&sou...oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=6a5a05a31a92c896Oh - it's the same thing. Thanks for the nudge on that . . . I remember the grape thing when I looked them up a couple years ago - I'll probably forget and ask again next year when it pops up.

Yes - same thing - muscari or grape hyacinth. I'm surprised you were able to grow them from pieces - I've only heard and tried growing them from bulbs.

I had no choice but to grow them in pieces - a couple of years ago, somebody left them with my plants in the lobby here. When the plant became scrubby, I took it out to the table and took it out of the pot.
It fell to pieces. I just took the pieces of root and put them in the rock garden.
They looked like little hyacinths . . . and y'know - that reminds me - I didn't see the hyacinths this year. Maybe they're finished.
