OOOPS - I had been typing this in the last CH and didn't see that you all had moved along! So I'll put it here... Originally Posted By: Merme

"they paved paradise and put up a parking lot", or house or office building and took away all their land! This is a large problem in many communities across the country. And while I hate all the destruction they do to all my plants and trees, I understand where they are coming from. Unlike the woodchucks who can pretty much live anywhere, but choose to burrow under our shed! Hi all - rainy and COLD today. I've just gotten a blister on my pointer finger from trying to push up some very tight yarn on my knitting needle - 116 stitches of yarn - how silly is that?!? So I'm taking a short break here. Carol - when I made both my kids Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and someone didn't respond by 2 weeks after the date I had set in the invitations, I had to call them all because it was a very expensive affair that I would have to pay for the missing people. I had to guarantee a certain number at each catering hall. So I feel your frustration and have to agree that people who do not respond are highly inconsiderate. Diane - enjoy some of that nice weather for me. I've been spoiled with it lately, so these cooler, wet days are not welcome here.

Tamara, enjoy supper.
Lynne---yes I know--I think that until people do an occasion that involves a caterer they do not realize. and yes I have spent the day calling people.
I have a few left to contact, but they are not home. there is not going to be as many as I had first anticipated (& that is a good thing)

How'd the birthday meal with DD go Carol? no dinner with her. The dinner was supposed to be with the older DD & her new boy. but they decided not to (I think he was wanting to grill out & when the forcast was for rain, they decided not to) & so I let the birthday girl know & as she has a confirmation & a baby shower to go to, we didnt get to do more than speak to her on the phone. PS Emily knew she was going to be busy so she had told Valarie that we would be free for their invitation, should things work out.

Oh too bad, I missed Kim! Maxi and I have been snacking just about all afternoon, so I wonder if we are going to even want dinner?!

Boy oh boy am I tired tonight. I will be glad when it is bedtime. Maxi and I ended up having comfort food for dinner. Now he is getting a shower and I am having a last cup of Red rose tea. Back to school tomorrow.... spring break is over and only 7 more weeks left of the school year and our trip to Washington. My house got messy this weekend and I am not even sure how that happened. It is too chilly to care right now. Merme

I just saw part of an episode of "Raymond" tonight. It seems that his wife was cleaning because they were having company. he had watched the kids that morning so she could clean & he was refusing to help her do more work just to finish the house that afternoon. she said that the house should be that clean all the time. He then stated that they did not live in such a clean house normally & he did not think after he worked all day (usually I guess) and after he had watched the kids all morning that day(Saturday??) that he should have to do any work. he said by doing the housework for company they were not being honest, and in fact they were lieing. I looked at Rod & said gee I should never have to clean house again with that philosphy. if looks could kill I would not be typing right now. that man has NO sense of humor. I have an early morning tomorrow. I am going to take my MIL to the Drs. (nothing wrong) Then I am going to come home, & call my friend because it is our turn to clean the church this month.

Carol ~too funny. I see ditchy is back nice to see you again. Well we had a few flurries but it's holding off good so far, cloudy and wet outside today. I have some banking to do today~well really putting our tax refund in and letting the bills take it all is more like it but that's the way it goes...at least there's gonna be some left for a bit of gardening supplies

Hi all, Got a minute before Joe comes home- took a half day off today- we will be off to take the Tahoe to the mechanic- he thinks the alternator is out in it... while it's at the garage Nicoli and I will wander around Kmart... need to look for a new kitchen rug for in front of the sink...and a new can opener... old one bit the dust ... only works when it feels like it--- so it will go... We had a weird weather weekend- snow- rain and now the sun is out... supposed to be up to 70 by wed... gotta love spring here- my tulips never sent up stems to bloom, I have daffs but only one bloom,, crocus came up and never bloomed - they got snowed on twice and gave up I think... we are going to call today to get estimates on getting rid of the tree in the back yard... Yay! Well Joe just made it so off I go... Nana

I am back! Hey there!! Had some questions about converting a sheep shed to a chicken coop. (Posted in the critter corner if anyone has info to share.) And you know how it goes. This place is sort of like an addiction. Here's the compost bin. It's missing a few slats but you get the idea. It's pretty cool. The idea is once a bin's worth of stuff starts to decompose, you can turn in into the next bin. So three stages of decomposition going on at once. Cost about $140 to build. I found the plans in Crockett's Victory Garden (remember the old PSB series?).

I'm home. It's been a long day but I did just get dinner in the oven. I'm very tired, but I didn't want to delay too long getting it all started. We try to eat early on school nights. Maxi was given a beautiful Easter lily this past Sunday. When the bloom fades, I am going to show him how to take it through the steps so it will hopefully bloom again next year. He will enjoy doing that as he is so fond of Easter Lilies.
