sounds like your talking about a 'leaf' style lettuce, as opposed to 'iceberg'. I eat both the green and red - good stuff.

It's just a different variety...it tastes great and usually has more nutrients than the green. It's a leaf lettuce that's easy to grow.

I plant mine in a place that gets afternoon shade and cut off the leaves as I'm ready to eat it. It has more substance than iceberg.

I also put out more seeds as I use the lettuce. It will make until it gets pretty hot.

I live in Monroe, NC. I plant lettuce when it's cool and when it gets really hot like maybe July it doesn't work anymore. You should be fine where you are.
