Just a quick question.
How many buns of sandwiches should be made for 60 people...there's other snack and deli foods as well but I want to have more than enough. Any estimates?

Depending on the time of day you'll serve the foodand if there is 60 Hungry people ( and depends on the guests and how well you know them and how they eat at social settings, and other foods will be served as well, Personally I would still have enough buns for 60 people if you know them to eat well at social settings. I have always over done the food thing, I want to make sure there is plenty for all,

Thanks Diane..
Food will be served at 2:30 or so..kind of a brunch type atmosphere. With veggie, fruit, cheese and deli trays and dips, devilled eggs.....and lots of desserts.
You think estimating 3 sandwiches per person is o.k.(some will be tea style...so 10 to 12 pieces/per person)?

I would figure 1 to 1-1/2 per person made up. Then have the fixings for say 2 per person on hand to make more if need be. an unmade sandwich will freeze well--a made sandwich not so much. but like Diane says tea sandwiches (the ones where you cut a sandwich made of 2 pieces sandwich bread into 4 triangle pieces)--then count 4 cut up triangle pieces per person. if dollar rolls, then at the most,- 2 per person--you do not need to fill these people up, you just have to offer a nice luncheon at a shower.---besides there is other things to go with right??? AND cake--and one MUST have room for cake, right????

Oh yes, room for cake, muffins, brownies and cookies.

Tam, just like Diane I prefer to "over do" it when estimating food for guests. Then I have to remind myself I've never heard of anyone starving to death at a party in my town! Have you ever heard of anybody starving to death at a baby shower in your town? So, probably whatever you serve will be just fine, knowing you! And I'm telling ya, if 60 people plow through 180 sandwiches plus all those desserts and are still hungry, you could always point them to the woods and suggest they go hunting! Are you also making a crock of soup people could drink in styrofoam cups?

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Are you also making a crock of soup people could drink in styrofoam cups? No Merme, but I have been to a baby shower where they ran out of food before all the guests were served~it's still the talk of the town No~I won't be making a soup this time...although I made chicken soups for a baby shower for sis-in-law(in winter time)and it was a real hit...homemade buns and all. I decided that if there is too many leftovers I'll ask the ladies if they'd like to take home a plate to their husbands...
